They really didn't need to give the pats grade A bulletin board material....

PITTSBURGH -- Defensive back Anthony Smith (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7832) is so certain the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=pit) will end the New England Patriots (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nwe)' unbeaten season, he is guaranteeing a win Sunday in Foxborough.

The Patriots (12-0) may have the perfect record, Smith said Wednesday, but it should be New England that is worried about the Steelers (9-3) rather than the other way around.

"People keep asking me if we're ready for the Patriots," Smith said. "They should be asking if they're ready for us."

Is Smith so confident that he is willing to copy one of former Pittsburgh linebacker Joey Porter (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4723)'s familiar motivational ploys by guaranteeing the Steelers will win?

"We're going to win," Smith said. "Yeah, I can guarantee a win. As long as we come out and do what we got to do. Both sides of the ball are rolling, and if our special teams come through for us, we've got a good chance to win."..................................

I saw that on NFL Network last night- what an idiot.

It was probably going to be Patriots 40, Steelers 21. Now, it will be Patriots 52, Steelers 10. And the final touchdown for NE will come on 4th down with 6 seconds left on the clock.

if the steelers win, this guy is the next deion sanders. if they lose, you'll never hear from him again. pretty good odds of attaining some marketability if you ask me. the kid's got nothing to lose.

I'd agree if it was any team other than the Pats. But the team just responds so well to negative publicity and bulletin board fodder. Hell, you can't turn on ESPN without hearing them say great things about the Patriots and half the sportswriters in the country are calling Brady the "best QB ever," but Bellicheck somehow gets these braindead sheep to believe they get no respect. The last thing they need is more motivation.

Keep in mind that is late in a game the Steelers won 37-3 to bring their record to 7-7.

In other words, he is a knucklehead.

for those that don't know who he is........ he was a safety at syracuse...... was one of the better defenders and pretty much the whole defense at the end of the pasqualoni era and beginning of the g-rob era.....

he's now a starter for pittsburgh due to injuries, and has played solidly.... what i don't get is, that its the regular season, i'd sure hope to god you think your team can win, and honestly i think it's great........... NE will lose, just hopefully loss #1 is in the playoffs to these guys

I love to do this kind of trash talking guarantee stuff myself, but I would never say that to the Pats, that's just moronic.

Thats what the Patriots asked themselves.

I'm sorry, but the Patriots are the last team you should be guaranteeing a win over. I wouldn't be suprised if he gets hurt.

Knowing how dirty that team is, I wouldn't put it past them. Remember why JP was hurt? He made some stupid comments about them cheating before the game. :ill:

Anthony Smith....

Actually didn't "guarentee" a victory. It was a veterean reporter and a young player. It went more like... "So, you think you'll win Sunday? Yeah... really? Yeah... you are going to win? Yeah... Guarentee? yeah..."

And now, A. Smith is all over the pages as guaranteeing a win... Oh well.

Here is Smith hitting... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9szXZTMm-8&feature=related

I'll be rooting for Pittsburgh. Every team has their share of dumb-asses.
