Anybody see Mike Perreira last night?

    He said on HBO that:

    1. Only a head coach can call a timeout from the sidelines. Defensive coordinator Rex Ryan called the timeout on Monday Night against the Patriots.

    2. He said if the touchdown reception was ruled incomplete, that call would've been upheld.

So much for Peter King's "no bad calls" column.

I was always wondering if #1 was right. Billick never took the timeout, so it shouldn't have counted.

Wasn't sure about #1...#2 was pretty obvious IMO from the replay.

Perriera said that only the HC or players could take the TO, except in the moment just prior to the snap, when the call can come from anyone since the refs don't have the time to decipher who exactly is making the call.

That was his explanation -- that it was a judgement call -- but that's not the rule, the rule states only HC and players on the field.

The catch looked as good in slow mo as it did in real time. I disagree there, but the time out thing is strange.

Re: Anybody see Mike Perreira last night?

They should make it that only one official can accept a timeout call from the sideline. And in the case of Gibbs, only accept it once.

As for the catch. If you call having possession holding the ball with your fingertips while shifting it from one side to the other, then sure. Otherwise it looks like a double clutch right after his left foot came up. Neither here nor there though.

why is it that every "judgment call" in the past 6 years goes in NE's favor?

                      No it wasn't.

What he seemed to be saying was that the replay was not conclusive. It would not have been reversed either way.

The hold was the proper call. The idiot coach screwed up by calling a TO. Bart Scott screwed up by getting 2 15 yard penalties.

The worst call of the game was the lack of offensive PI on the last play.

The Ravens lost the game. They blew it.

That was the only game this year where I rooted for the Pats to win. That is how much I can't Stand Willis!
