If the Bills win out, Cleveland goes 3-1 losing only to us, and Tennessee goes 3-1, then the standings look like this:

Bills 10-6
Browns 10-6
Titans 10-6

In a one-on-one tiebreaker, the bills beat the browns.
In a one-on-one tiebreaker, the bills beat the titans.

HOWEVER....

in a three-way tiebreaker, Tennessee beats out both the bills and browns because:

1) we're all in different divisions

2) head to head tiebreaker requires that a team beats both teams, and we will have only beaten the browns.

3) we have the same conference records

4) we don't have enough (4) common opponents

5) Tennessee has, by far, a better strength of victory.

meaning we lose out on this one fellas.

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)
3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.
4. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games, minimum of four.
5. Strength of victory.
6. Strength of schedule.
7. Best combined ranking among conference teams in points scored and points allowed.
8. Best combined ranking among all teams in points scored and points allowed.
9. Best net points in conference games.
10. Best net points in all games.
11. Best net touchdowns in all games.
12. Coin toss

The tiebreaking expert on CBSsports.com has this to say of the situation:

Buffalo would have common opponents win over Tennessee if it's just those two in a tiebreaker scenario as Buffalo is done at 3-2 and the best Tennessee can do is 2-3 (with win against Jets). It looks like Violet had a typo.

So....Violet is right in the summary in that Buff would beat Cleveland head-to-head and Tennessee one-on-one by virtue of common opponents. It also looks like Buffalo has NO SHOT at catching Tennessee on Strength of Victory, especially with a pending win against 0-12 Miami (ouch).

HOWEVER....if Buffalo, Cleveland and Tennessee all finish 9-7 (still a possibility with Buff losing one game and Cleveland losing an additional game after the Buffalo loss and Tennessee losing two) and Buffalo's loss is against one of it's two NFC opponents on the final two weeks (NYG and PHIL) and Denver doesn't finish 9-7, THEN the Bills will win that tiebreaker based on conference record.

Note: Cleveland can lose to SF and finish tied with Buffalo at 7-5 conference record...but with Tennessee out of the conference record tie mix, Buffalo would go up against Cleveland one-on-one and win that based on head-to-head.

Hope that helps.

I bet all my zbs that if we win out, we get in. Any takers?

Just look at 2004 and 2006. We were caught up in all those if-then scenarios but we didn't even hold up our end of the bargain. Had we of done so, we would have made playoffs both times. So, just win baby, and everything else will take care of itself.

The Browns and Titans might blow the last 4 games, you never know.

Anything can happen on any given sunday
