View Full Version : What WR would be the perfect compliment to the other side of Evans?

We obviously need a big 2nd WR to take pressure off Lee Evans, probably a big possession type WR. Assuming we pick middle of the pack at 19th, what kind of WR can we get and who would suit us the most?

The ideal pick is WR Malcolm Kelly from Oklahoma if he declares, but among seniors Id say probably Limas Sweed.

Never watched him play but the name Limas Sweed just doesn't seem to strike fear in defenses. :ill:

I moved to Austin about a year ago, Limas Sweed is the man! He missed alot of this year due to injury but he would have been a heisman contender!

Dang. At 6-5, he looks like the Randy Moss type of WR who will outjump you and win the jump ball over your head every time. At 219 lbs it sounds a little skinny though, is he?

Yeah he would be the perfect compliment to the burner in Evans we already have.

Where is he projected to go?

He could use 15 or so pounds, maybe 20

He's projected late 1st to mid 2nd at this point he hurt himself this year so his stock has taken a shot so far.

I don't mind the idea of taking a WR to compliment Evans in the first round, but I'd still like to see the team pursue a #2 through FA. I don't want to wait 2-3 years for the guy to develop on his own when we can have the best of both worlds.

Another guy to remember is Adarius Bowman from Oklahoma State (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HHtRi4_P6mc) but he'll likely be off the board when it's time for us to draft.

I know people don't like waiting on a guy to develop, but I like the idea of Marcus Monk in the 5th round. Dude's 6'6" and has hands. Big redzone target and possession receiver. he's not gonna run away from anyone, I believe he runs a 4.6 and is coming off two knee surgeries which should put him down in the draft.

He is however without the knee surgeries easily a 2nd round type of talent. If he can regain his strength in the knee and stays healthy and confident in his knee, he'll be a force in this league and an absolute steal.

As far as a name stricking "fear" into the opposition, Lynn Swann, WR , Pittsburgh Steelers takes the cake for gay sounding names, but he had the goods on the field! His Mom even had him dance in ballet lessons as a kid. Apparently, THAT helped make him a tough dude, I'd think.

4.6 isn't bad for a really tall guy. Didn't Moulds run a 4.6 ???

I know he ran the 4.6 pre knee surgery. Don't know if he stills run it.

He could be hampered on his speed a little being only about 6 months out of surgery at time of the combine. If he runs a 4.8 his stock will plummet a little further. Still think someone takes a chance on him at around round 5 though based on his potential. I would love for that to be us.

Even with the knee surgeries?

I think it would hurt his stock more than that.

Yeah it made him tough because kids beat the snot out of him everyday because of it....

a 4.6 would show he's fully recovered, he's got 1st Round ability if he run in the 4.6 range he'll go in the 3rd if not sooner

I think most of the tall receivers who will go in the first three rounds have been named: Malcom Kelly, Limas Sweed, Adarius Bowman, James Hardy, and Marcus Monk. At this point I've seen speeds estimated for the first 4 in the 4.52 to 4.57 range. Some of them have some small warts. For instance, I've heard Sweed is a little sloppy in his route running. The Bills, like other teams will have to sift that all out. The combine and workouts will sort out the measurables.

I'm really impressed just by the number of big receivers likely to be in this draft who are considered at this point to be good to very good. If you're a team that needs a big receiver, this would seem to be the year to get one.

I think Hardy is the guy we been lookin for 6ft7 220lbs, i seen him play against Michigan 2 years ago live and the kid can move and take hits, i think we could even put weight on and maybe be a TE, i like him and think he will be around when we draft

Draft Tek's mock has Buffalo taking DJ Hall from Alabama in round 2. He's not quite as big at 6'2", but has a little more speed than the big guys.

Scott Peters-Winona St (DII)
That would be wild. I worked in Winona for 10 years. It's a small town in Minnesota of maybe 25K people. Hell I bet I know someone who knows this guy LOL.

Yep and add Mario Urutia from Louisville to that list as he declared he's a late 2nd-3rd round projection at this point

WR's
Steve Johnson - Kentucky - Rd. 3 (better than Burton? probably not, but it's debateable)
AND
De'Cody Fagg - Florida State - Rd. 5 (underrated...incredibly so, if you ask me)

TE
Martin Rucker - Mizzou - Rd. 2 (a WR in a TE's body)

Rd. 1 = DE or DT
Rd. 4 = OLB

He's definitely going to New England. With Randall Gay and De'Cody Fagg there's no stopping Brady.
