I hope the Bills make the playoffs this year but ...

... even if they dont this has to be considered a successful season overall

im deathly sick of not playing in the post-season so thats a pretty unusual statement for me and one i defenlly didnt think id be making prior to the season

but consider what theyve accomplished this year and how it impacts next season

    - defensive line now not a question mark, at least decent if not good, great top 7 rotation
    - greer and mcgee fully established as a top cb duo
    - crowell borderline probowl candidate
    - whitner not great but very solid and maturing as a leader
    - pizzaboy at the very least an excellent backup if not a decent to good starter
    - frankenwire ditto
    - george wilson ditto
    - offensive line finally becoming a strength
    - fred jackson great find, two headed monster appears major weapon
    - appear to have answered the quarterback position - finally
    - roscoe the legit elite pr in the league
    - seem to be learning together how to win games they used to routinely lose
    - skeletor hopefully finished with game losing boneheaded decisions
    - leon joe - eh i got nuthin

    also throw in
    - getting starter poz back
    - getting starter ko back
    - getting quality backups merz, k. thomas, whittle back
    - boatloads of picks next draft
    - jp should fetch another day 1 pick if he doesnt stick around

    remaining questions/problems
    - huge hole at big #2 wr
    - tight ends still lackluster
    - yourbooty still not a regular contributor
    - anybody heard ellisons name lately
    - potential mikey puke fountain again next opener party

lots of reasons to be optimistic for next season and beyond. of course i said something similar last summer but this time i really mean it. ok i meant it then too but this time im not completely full of ***t. ok i am but not nearly as much

I think Greer is OK as depth, but as a fulltime starter he is not physical enough, imo.

Don't you do that, don't say your good-byes.

Listen, Meathead. You're gonna get out of here, you're gonna go on and play lots of games, and you're gonna watch them win. You're gonna die an old... an old man warm in his bed, but not here, not this night. Not like this, do you understand me?

            Identity.

I haven't seen it since the old guys left.

The TD era was marked by weird draft choices and high vis free agents that didn't work out.

So much to fix from here, but this team has identity.

replace him with a 6'1" shut down corner, have Greer play the nickel and then you got a very deep secondary when all the injured come back...you could get rid of Leonhard and Youbouty.

No need to have a shutdown corner in a cover 2.

They are also too expensive to retain when they become FA's.

Call me a minority, but I think you always need a shut down corner.

Get one, and worry about the salary later.

What sickens me is giving up the 3rd and 8's to non shut down corners.

Further, anybody who is serious about us getting anywhere needs to address the Pats wide receivers, and that isn't going to happen by cover 2 scheme with average corners.
