They tie cleveland at 10-6 and tenn. loses one more- Bills beat Cleveland on Head to head.

They tie Tenn. at 10-6 - Bills are 3-2 and tenn at best is 2-3 against common opponents- Bills beat Tenn on common opponent (which is before strength of schedule).

Three or More Clubs
(Note: If two clubs remain tied after third or other clubs are eliminated, tie breaker reverts to step 1 of applicable two-club format.)
1. Apply division tie breaker to eliminate all but the highest ranked club in each division prior to proceeding to step 2. The original seeding within a division upon application of the division tie breaker remains the same for all subsequent applications of the procedure that are necessary to identify the two Wild-Card participants.
2. Head-to-head sweep. (Applicable only if one club has defeated each of the others or if one club has lost to each of the others.)


i think the bolded sentences would indicate that a team can be eliminated simply by losing to both teams at any point in the tiebreak.

titans lose to both us and cleveland at tiebreak #3 and so are eliminated before we even get to strength of victory.

so we do in fact control our destiny.

actaully i beleive that if jax loses out there is a way for the bills to win out and miss the playoffs

but that wont happen

Three or More Clubs

IF Buffalo, Tenn. and Clev are all 10-6, the head to head meeting between Buffalo and Cleveland knocks out Cleveland. Then you revert to step 1 again and it if you notice #3 (3. Best won-lost-tied percentage in common games.) , we will be 3-2 and Tenn will be 2-3 on #3, thus eliminating Tenn.

Head to head is #1 so it knocks out the Browns then revert back to #1 for Buffalo / Tenn and the Bills win at #3, simple.

If the 7-6 Bills win out, starting with the enormous showdown this Sunday in Cleveland, Buffalo makes the playoffs.

Digest it if you will. The Buffalo Bills, who lost their first three games of the season, two by over 20 points apiece, control their own destiny to make the postseason.

this is my last post on the matter:

a three way tie necessitates that you use the three way tiebreaker and the three way tiebreaker alone.

i have had confirmations on this by cbssports and nfl playoff tiebreaker experts.

if the bills, titans and browns are tied at 10-6, the bills are not in.

that is the end of it.

How do you do a three way tie with 2 teams left?? That in itself seems impossible.

It doesn't matter what happens otherwise.

According to this, there could be 5 clubs left and if 2 end up remaining you go to a two club format at that point and only at that point. Until you get down to 2 you use the 3 or more club format. Cleveland is out and it's us and Tenn left in a 2 club format if we are all 10-6. We win on Step #3 with a better % of 3-2 versus their 2-3 %.

for us to win in common games... there has to be 4 teams that cleveland, buffalo and tennesse have played.......... there arent

meaning that we get to step 5 before any team is eliminated
