    Jauron makes Bills tougher

    The Jauron love fest continues!

There are a lot of reasons to like the Buffalo Bills -- and most of them start with their coach, Dick Jauron.
Jauron, who began his NFL career with the Detroit Lions as a defensive back and Pro Bowl return specialist, has never let his teams cave in. They've been overmatched, as was the case when he was interim head coach of the Lions for the last five games in 2005, but Jauron had a way to bring out the best in his players.
He did that as head coach of the Bears, where he won a division title in 2001 with a 13-3 record with Jim Miller as quarterback, and he's doing it again.
The Bills have had as much adversity as any team in the NFL. They have overcome the trauma of the paralyzing injury sustained early in the season by Kevin Everett, a backup tight end, who is making a recovery. They've had injuries and quarterback changes.
Trent Edwards, the rookie who looked good in an exhibition game against the Lions, has a 5-1 record as a starter. That was a change for the better.
The Bills face a showdown game at Cleveland Sunday in their bid to gain a wild-card spot in the AFC playoffs. The Bills are 7-6. The Browns are 8-5. A win Sunday would give the Bills the tiebreaker advantage over the Browns, should the teams finish with the same record. A loss would eliminate the Bills from finishing ahead of the Browns.

    Re: Jauron makes Bills tougher

Hanson once talked about a message that Jauron gave the team: "If there's no wind in your sails, row."

In other words, find a way to compete, no matter what.
