Tight end Ernie Conwell, who spent the past seven seasons with the St. Louis Rams, will visit the Panthers. His agent, Mike Sullivan, said Conwell would arrive tonight and visit with the team Thursday.

Conwell is the type of versatile tight end the Panthers are looking for. When the Panthers released Wesley Walls in February, coach John Fox said the team wanted strong blocking from the tight ends. Conwell, 6-foot-2 and 265 pounds, is viewed as a solid blocker.

Conwell, 30, has 72 catches for 850 yards and six touchdowns in the past two seasons. He also has drawn interest from Jacksonville, and the Rams have made an offer to re-sign him....more (http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/sports/5537797.htm)
