Oh wait...IT'S ALL FAIRCHILDS FAULT !

We confiremed yesterday we're going in the right direction but still have some obvious holes to fill in our lineup. So lets see if we can shore up the shortcomings in the off-season, in addition to finding a new OC to replace Fairchild.

Many here went from predicting a .500 season or worse in Sept. to predicting a 3-4 win season in late Sept. to crying about blowing the playoffs yesterday. Good grief. Some here are such emotional dwarfs.

We are what we are and I'm not going to believe any one player or coach " blew it " yesterday in the middle of a blizzard. We lost to a better team and I'm disappointed with a loss like everyone. Still, taking a step back and looking at this team for what they are still gives me confidence for the long term. No excuses needed. The Bills are a young team trying to get better.

We also need a bigger/better H-back or fullback, whatever the hell you want to call it.

Those would be my first three picks, too. And a pass rush specialist at DE wouldn't hurt.

Those would be my first three picks, too. And a pass rush specialist at DE wouldn't hurt.

We could have 3 All Pro caliber CB's well over 6 feet tall and they would get beat constantly, without any pass rush from our smallish/ no pressure line.

That's what baffles me the most. If you build an expansion team from scratch, you build up the DL and OL first, then build out from there. Our smurf DL is getting dominated in most games, which works like a negative domino effect on the rest of the roster. Can't Marv, Jauron and Co. see this ?

Little to no pressure on pass plays. A swinging door on run plays. So frustrating to watch. I'd like to retire that "bend don't break" phrase permanently.

we need to fix our whole O.

we might need an entire new set of O coaches. mcnally might have to go, he's been given talent and still can't get consistent performance.

the thing for me is that you need everyone on the same page on O. you need the right blocking technique for the right schemes, the qb and rbs need to know their assignments before the snap cold. the wr's need to know what their qb expects them to do. we have none of that.

we also need some playmakers. i am of the opinion that evans is a super #2 type wr, he just doesn't get the first down making catches that the real number 1 gets. i'm sure a better o will use him to a greater extent, but he is clearly not a physical guy who fights for the ball, he is a burner with skill.

we need to sign someone, chad johnson comes to my mind but whoever it is we need a big playmaker at WR.

we have at least 3 good OL, one TE who can play a bit, one good wr, a good young qb, and 1 good feature back and a decent back up.

an OC who can get our RBs involved in the passing game and who knows what he needs to do is plenty.

fairchild reminds me of when we had gilbride in his second season. he lost price, reimersma, and centers, but still ran the same scheme. we ran sam gash out in the flat like every 3rd down.

it was like the personal was for one kind of team and his scheme was for another.

fairchild/DJ seem to be the same way. we want to be conservative, run on first down, pass to tight ends, and air it out once in a while.
for that you want both guards to be very good run blockers, at least 2 quality TEs (we have 1 at best) and 1 or 2 big body WRs. a full back works in that kind of O as well.

instead we seem to have an indoor speed set of people that we use in a smash mouth O. terrible.
