View Full Version : We should convert Losman to a WR

Just a thought...but if we aren't going to give JP a fair chance to be the starting QB here than we ought to take advantage of his natural athleticism and utilize him as a WR, DB, or RB.

I really think he would turn out to be a great player at any of those positions and a lot of other NFL players have been converted to other positions coming out of college. Plus we have already had success doing this with guys like Jason Peters, Coy Wire and George Wilson.

Hopefully the front office reads these boards and makes JP our #1 WR in 2008!!

$1.3 million a season to a WR who's never played WR before?

It's an interesting thought but too risky.

This is assuming we don't get the value we should for him in a trade (i.e. 2 first round picks). No sense in giving away a player of his calibur for nothing. I just have a bad feeling if we let him go he will have a 4000 yard, 30 TD season on another team.

JP really got a raw deal in Buffalo.

You think we should get 2 first rounders for JP?

I like JP too but dude you're whacked.

The moment a quarterback is converted to a wide receiver is the moment he's done in this league.

See: Crouch, Eric and Vick, Marcus.

if we get a 3rd rounder for him, that will be high. More likely, we'll get a 4th, or we can trade him and our extra 3rd for a 2nd- something like that.

JP was basically handed the starting job by Mularkey and this coaching staff gave him all of last year and a good portion of this year. He had plenty of chances. Granted, he didn't have a lot of talent around him, but talent won't force JP to make better decisions with the ball or give him that internal clock.

Matt Jones?

That being said, JP is not a WR. He cant hold on to the ball in the pocket what the hell makes you think he can catch.

Thats always been my beef. I think one more year under Drew could've been the difference for JP.

There are a number of college quarterbacks who successfully made the transition to NFL wide receiver. Antwan Randle El comes to mind.

That said, Losman is not athletic enough to be converted to wide receiver.

Eggnog? dude, L4L is not hitting the eggnog, he's hitting his head with the frozen egnog container.

There are reasons that frontal lobotomies are now discouraged... look what it has done for L4L.

Maybe so but he'd need to go north of the border to do it.

Right Matt Jones is another good example. I guy who switched to WR and his career is over. I heard he might retire after this year.

This is just a dumb Idea. Why would JP agree to move to WR when it is clear he will get another shot somewhere as a QB? Secondly while he is athletic for a QB he would be average as a WR in both height and Speed.

I have heard he has a lack of desire to play football now. Not someone i would want on my team, thats for sure.

Right which probably stems from the fact that he is out of position and a terrible WR....

Ignoring for the moment whether JP has the speed, hands and general ability to play WR, who really thinks he would want to make the switch.

I'm pretty sure he still wants to play QB in this league.

Plenty of college QBs have excelled at WR or KR

Kevin Johnson, Az Hakim, Randle El, Josh Cribbs.

Not saying Losman can, just saying it's a possibility.

A possibility I hope the Bills never entertain that is.

The best thing for Jp Losman is to become a back up QB for another team.

Our WR corps suck ass right now, and we know Wilson won't pay for the top FA's, so what the hell, if we can't get what we want in a trade, give it a shot.

OK JP's mom.... We know you love your son, but pimping him to a group of fans that have watched him play for 3 years won't work.

All of the QBs that have been successfully converted from QB to WR did so either while in college or as they entered the league. I also think JP will get a 2 or 3 in trade. Qbs are hard to come by and some egomaniac HC and/or OC is going to look at JP's athleticism and still think he can make him successful. If a 2 got AJ Feeley to the Phins, I'm pretty sure the Bills could get a 3 for JP!
