Are there concerts and other events at the Ralph over the summer? Seems like there is always something happening at Gillette , I was wondering if it was the same.

There's never any concerts there. They should, but with the HSBC Arena that's mostly where concerts are held.

In the 90s, it seemed there was usually a big concert or two most summers. I know the Grateful Dead played during some summers. DMB played there as well as GnR and Metallica. Not sure about others.

I think the lamest concert I ever went to was my first one, and that was Our Lady Peace, and I'd consider NSYNC a million times more :limp: than that...

Orchard Park really dislikes events at the Ralph - it costs them money (police, garbage pickup, etc) and they get very little back.

I love OLP!

I have never been to a concert anywhere near the gayness of NYSNC.

IC you better play metal at leat 4x harder than you do to wash that stink off.

I've seen them twice actually, and I like them, but they are by far the most tame concert I think I've been to... Well not includings ones I worked, since I didn't have much choice in being at those.

The first time I saw them it was a small show at the college I ended up going to, Nine Days opened for them... now they were gay! The second time was part of a huge all day concert I went to in Tampa 2 years ago where they played an acoustic set.

I think I've seen better bands to wash off the NSync-ness

Slayer
Megadeth
Trivium
Lamb of God
Every Time I Die
Killswitch Engage
Black Sabbath
System of a Down
Iron Maiden
Cannibal Corpse
Behemoth
As I Lay Dying

Killswitch Engage
Black Sabbath
System of a Down
Iron Maiden
Cannibal Corpse

While that is a badass list, it takes a lot of scrubbing to get rid of NSYNC...

My list is something like this:

Funeral for a Friend
Our Lady Peace x2
Motion City Soundtrack
Amberlin
Alkaline Trio
30 Seconds to Mars
Rise Against
Story of the Year x2
Trapt
My Chemical Romance
Dope
Sworn Enemy
Thrice
Atreyu
Chimaira
Fear Factory
Kiss
Aerosmith
A Dozen Furies
Trivium
God Forbid
As I Lay Dying x2
In Flames
Shadows Fall
Killswitch Engage
Tool
Deftones x3
Slipknot

Some of those were purely a part of a show where I went to see one or two bands and saw several others in the process. I'll also be adding Everytime I Die, Dillinger Escape Plan, and Killswitch for the 2nd time next month

Far less gay than NSYNC, and as I mentioned, they were in a lineup for an all day show where I went to see other artists. I actually left in the middle of their set.

I understand that going to an N'Sync concert is really :limp: But if you go with a girlfriend, and it's at your favorite sports stadium, I don't think it's as bad as some people say. Especially if you get some afterwards. :naughty:

To get back on track in this thread, if the Bills build a new stadium downtown, does the amount of events increase?

It might still be the same rates for security and clean-up and all that it has now, but I'm not positive until it actually happens.

I'd hope so

Only if it is a retractable dome.

RedEyE
12-28-2007, 03:15 PM
With that in mind it seems that if a new stadium was built downtown it would either have to be domed or contain a retractable roof. Otherwise it couldn't be used for nothing but football 9 months out of the year.

And does that take away profits from HSBC?

For bigger, more charitable events which could hold about 19,000 would be better off in a nearly 80,000 capacity stadium I would think.

I think in that case HSBC would be used for lower scale events like some concerts and still the circus.

If it's possible, you could build a hotel as an extension to the stadium for out of town visitors during football season and any time it's needed.

This would also be a stretch, but allow it to also house an MLB team.
