Here are some things I want to talk about. I will number them to make them easier to respond to.
1) Gannon mentioned during the game that every time Edwards does hand signals to the WRs it is a run play. WTF? Then he kept pointing it out. That is huge. How long has that been going on?
2) There was a Sam Aiken sighting. I seen him on the field before, but always during a run play. I thought this might be a way the defense was being tipped. "Look here comes Aiken, must be a run." But he caught a pass. The only one thrown to him this year was good for a first down.
3) Our WRs were absent. Heck, Sam Aiken was tied for the team lead in receptions by a wide receiver. Aiken, Lee, Reed, and Parrish each had 1. I don't think Lee was happy with Edwards.
4) I just watched Josh Reed speak ill of the play calling on the news. He basically said it was basic and predictable.
5) That was a pretty bad throw from Edwards to Lee deep today. Just thought it was worth pointing out. He threw deep once, and it was awful. Wobbly and woefully under thrown.
6) There was a Youboty sighting. I don't think he had a great game, but he did get an Int. He looked funny trying to return it, so I don't see him fielding punts anytime soon. But, I thought it could do things for his confidence (considering I have felt he lacked it). That was until I seen him completely whiff on the CB blitz. It looked pathetic. And, it wasn't the first time he looked bad doing it.
I think Scott did well in that blitzing CB role a few weeks back.
7) Ellison had a sack. Sorry buddy. Too little, too late.
8) If you are at the 50, I think you should end the first half with hailmarys, not runs up the gut. Just my opinion. And, I think if you are scrambling out of the pocket at the end of a half, you chuck it long. Not out of bounds.
9) At the beginning of the year, we didn't use the screen at all. In recent weeks it has been used more and more. It could have worked nicer today if there was a downfield threat at all. But it was utilized. With the emergence of Fred Jackson to add with Lynch, the Bills are a screen team all of a sudden.
10) I wanted the Bills to sign Kevin Curtis this past off season. He would have been perfect. He got a 6 year $32 million contract. The Bills finished the season with like ten million to spare from what I read.
11) Joselio Hanson. He is the guy that ran down Lynch from behind. I was waiting to see a play like that were Lynch had no one between him and six. I was wondering about his break away, straight line speed. I don't think it is elite. Oh well.
12) Trent did look good running for a first down at one point when the pocket collapsed. 12 yards. Worth mentioning.
13) Parrish's spin move on punt returns is awesome. Cracks me up how that little dude be breaking tackles.
14) The announcers pointed out Reed has the most receptions in the league with out a TD. 51 catches and zero TDs.
Usually I have more to talk about, but I though this was a pretty blah game. I could have ended every number with a "what do you think?" But, I figure I will just add it here.
