Lions fire Martz

Lions fired offensive coordinator Mike Martz and hired line coach Jim Cotello as offensive coordinator. Receivers coach Kippy Brown will be named assistant head coach/offense and passing game coordinator.

This is clearly a move from the Lions away from Martz's bombs-away offense and back to a scaled down approach. That could hurt the raw numbers of the Lions wideouts and jeopardize Jon Kitna's future in Detroit, especially as a fantasy threat. Martz has already been linked to the offensive coordinator job in San Francisco.

Well, he won't end up in SF. Also from rotoworld:

49ers fired offensive coordinator Jim Hostler.
Hostler's offense was historically bad in 2007, but he really didn't get a fair shake. The coordinator role was thrown on him after Norv Turner bolted for San Diego in late February. Hostler will likely find a place in football this offseason and possibly get another chance at being an OC down the line.
