View Full Version : Trade rumor coming from buffalobills.com main board

Someone posted on the main board that Sirius said there were talks between the bills and lions of trading losman and a pick to detriot for Roy Williams or Shaun Rogers, or something like that. Apparently Jauron was very high on Roy Williams from his time in Detriot.

First off, I wouldn't hold it past Millen for trading losman for williams. The guy is a terrible Gm. However, if such a trade were to occur, it would probably take losman and a pick. Keep in mind, Williams denied rumors he wanted out of detriot just recently. He said he wanted to be a lion for life.

Second, I think it'd be far more realistic of landing Shaun Rogers for Losman. Lions have always been unsatisfied with Rogers. At his best, he'd be a big addition to the defense.

Discuss.

Wow! If we could get either of those guys, that would be ****ing awesome!

Lee Evans, Roy Williams, Josh Reed, Roscoe Parrish

Shaun Rogers would also give us the big DT that we have been needing. He is very underrated! :D

The rumor also allegedly had the Bills talking with Atlanta about DeAngelo Hall (for Losman).

OK, Clump. Just to give you a head start, here are all their numbers, just incase: :D

*Note: Both Evans and Williams can void after 2008, so we'd probably have to re-sign both before next season is up if he were on the team:

Roy Williams
8/1/2004: Signed a six-year, $27 million contract.
The deal includes $11.16 million in bonus money.
2008: $574,500
2009: $912,000 (void year)
2010: Free Agent

DeAngelo Hall:
2008: $570,000
2009: $957,500
2010: Free Agent

Shaun Rogers:
1/1/2005: Signed a six-year, $43 million contract.
The deal included a $15 million signing bonus.
2008: $4,250,000
2009: $5,250,000
2010: $7,000,000
2011: Free Agent

if it is on a message board I don't think it will happen

I agree.

But, just for the fun of it...I think that either deal would be terrific for the Bills if it were true.

My preference would be for the Bills to get Shaun Rogers, rather than Roy Williams, because Pro Bowl DTs are a lot harder to find than even excellent WRs. Even if it cost a first day draft pick plus Losman, adding Rogers to McCargo, Tripplett, K.Williams would really solidify the interior of the Bills defense and make it possible for Posluzny, the other LBs and Whitner to really do their jobs and shut down opposing running games. It would also allow the Bills to address their other primary needs: WR, TE and CB, with their remaining first day picks. R.Williams would be a nice addition to the offense, but IMHO it would be harder to address the Bills' D-line needs in the draft and I would have to be concerned about Williams' tendency to get hurt--he has gotten hurt a lot playing in a dome with Detroit, what would happen if he were playing in the cold weather in Buffalo?

Personally, I think that Losman is going to be hard to trade, especially now that every team in the league knows that he wants out of Buffalo. I would be surprised (very pleasantly!) if the Bills were to get the kind of value that is being talked about here in exchange for him.

Hey, I heard that Reggie Wayne was unhappy with his contract at Indy and wants out, and Indy is asking a bag of balls and an Olive Garden gift certificate for him!

I have trouble believing any rumors, unless they're coming from a concrete source, ofcourse.

I will say, however, I do like Shaun Rogers because he doesn't seem to miss games or get hurt.

I hate to break it to everyone but Detroit has a young QB in Drew Stanton, whom they drafted in the 2nd Round of the 2007 draft. He missed all season because of an injury so don't see where they need Losman. Atlanta on the other hand proves interesting with Hall or a day 1 at the very lest would interest me.

Roy Williams is awesome but constantly injured.

Mr. Miyagi
01-06-2008, 10:06 AM
You're confusing him with Charles Rogers. Roy Williams was only injured half of last season. Prior to that he pretty much tore up the league since being drafted.

No I am not. Roy Williams has been injured quite a bit. Not season long ones but a game or two here and there.

Losman isnt worth a half a cup of blue cheese here in buffalo cuz we are all disgusted with not only his performace, but the way he was used by the FO. He has quite a bit of value outside of buffalo. Argue with me if you want.

Roy Williams single handedly beat us the last time the lions came to buffalo. Roy Williams across the middle all frickin day. He is the missing link in our WR corps. and a much safer bet than say Limas Sweed or Malcolm Kelly or even my boy James Hardy. This is trade I would love.

JP for Deangelo Hall is also a awesome trade. We really need a cover corner and sorry, but Mcgee and Greer arent it. We toatally drew the short straw when you look at the WRs that bills CBs have to cover. Even the most perfectly executed Cover2 defense cant hold up against the WRs in the AFC.

I'm cool with either of these trades.
If we get Roy-boy we can draft Dan Connor at 11 and either a TE or DT in the 2nd and so on. If we can get Hall, then we can draft either Kelly, Sweed or Hardy(although this draft class, the available WRs arent quite top 15 picks) and maybe Ali Highsmith in the 2nd.

Laurenaitis would be nice if he dropped to 11 cuz it would be awesome to have a LB that can cover a TE. Laurenaitis is unlikely however cuz either the Jets or those scum-humping cheaters the Pats will most likely grab him up.

I dont have much to do 2day, so I'm gonna look into Mr.Rogers cuz I dont know much about him.

JP can't read defenses, no matter what offense you put him in the field will never look clear to him. He has arm strength, he has speed but he doesn't have the brain to play QB at the NFL level. The game is to fast for him, he shouldn't be a backup much less a starter. Bad pick by the Bills all the way around with Losman.

FTP, I agree, BUT, compared to what Detroit and Atlanta and Carolina have now JP is a band-aid till they can get goin.

Well the cool thing about teams like the Lions and especially the Falcons is that as bad as the Bills might be, they are in much better situations than the Falcons, and probably even the Lions. The Lions are probably managed worse than the Bills, and that's saying something.

If we could fill a big need with a proven player like Hall, Williams, or Rodgers, for our backup QB---it would be great!

Discuss.

Whos negotiating? we dont even have a gm at the moment... not to mention a trade wouldnt even take place until the seasons over

Detriot drafted Drew Stanton in the 2nd round, and reportedly most in the organization are pretty high on him.

If Detriot makes that trade they will cement thier status as one of the worst led teams in football.

Atlanta seems far more likely although given our leadership I cant imagine Roy "I play for my future contract" Williams or Deangelo "I heart Mike Vick" Hall will end up here.

as much as i think JP isnt a good starting quarterback in this league i will say that QBs are at a premium right now and there is NO QBs available in free agency this year to start or back up for that matter. i mean todd collins is 36 and a back up at best, derrick anderson is a RFA and will command at least a 1rst round pick and big money to get him. JP is the "bargain" out there i am sure. i mean for a 3 or 4th rounder or decent player you get a QB who does have a cannon arm and can move around and is still very young. some team will deffinatly give him another shot, not too mention if they trade for him they get the final year of his rookie contract to see if they like him witch i am sure is not a monster cap number. i am sure all the JP haters are going to say he sucks no one wants him yada yada yada.... but the nfl looks at talent at all angles not as upset fans. JP could actually help us with a nice draft pick or player.

Who's negotiating? How should I know? As far as I know DJ is charge of personnel decisions so he could be leadings the talks. Teams can talk now, but they can't made any trades. There's nothing wrong with discussing it early if that is the case.

Kyle Boller and Rex Grossman, clones of JP, are available without having to giving up a pick. Why take our trash and give up something when you can take free trash?

kyle boller and rex rossman are RFA you would have to compensate the respective teams for them and rex is going to stay in chicago, angelo is high on him still. it is all over all the chicago papers.

Bears general manager Jerry Angelo took the podium Thursday to address the results of the 2007 season and to outline his plans for 2008, a season in which he expects competition at key positions.

In discussing the franchise's struggles to settle on a quarterback, Angelo admitted the need for stability. While he has not ruled out signing a free agent or drafting a quarterback, Angelo sounded optimistic about Rex Grossman.

Boller and Grossman are UFAs.

As is Daunte Culpepper. As is Josh McCown. As is Cleo Lemon.

I don't think anyone would rate JP higher than any of those 5 guys, equal maybe, but definitely not higher.

And the Bears coaching staff was so optimistic about Grossman that Kyle Orton played the last 2 games.

Boller and Grossman are UFAs.

You're both wrong about Boller.

He is under contract next season:
9/6/2007: Signed a one-year, $3 million contract extension through 2008. The deal included a $400,000 signing bonus. 2007: $600,000, 2008: $2 million, 2009: Free Agent
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2256

Grossman is a UFA:
7/24/2003: Signed a five-year, $7.6 million contract. The deal included a $5 million signing bonus and can be worth $17-18 million if all incentives are reached. 2007: $2.035 million, 2008: Free Agent
http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_contract.aspx?sport=NFL&id=2450

Here is your entire free agent list (known names), both RFA and UFA for every position:

Us trading Losman & a pick for Roy Williams is too good to be true or to believe. Sorry, it may be on the net, but that doesn't mean I'm buying it. I'll believe it when I see it!!

IMO, Roy Williams is a top 5 WR and, to me at least, top 2

We would finally be making a huge upgrade if we were to add him.

I would trade JP and one of our 3rds, hell a 2nd for him.

FTP, I agree, BUT, compared to what Detroit and Atlanta and Carolina have now JP is a band-aid till they can get goin.

Delhomme is coming back next year and Matt Moore performed very well once he got the starting nod and potentially is the heir apparent to Delhomme.
Kitna is no better and no worse than Losman and like someone said they drafted Stanton last year so I do not see Carolina or Detroit as suitors for Losman.
Chicago, Baltimore or Atlanta are the best bets IMO.

If its true, I'd do it. In fact I would give up the #11 and Losman for Williams and one of their QBs.

Update on BB.com. Supposedly Bob Matthews said Detroit would consider a draft pick. I would definitely give up #11 for Williams.

<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->

Just posting this because I haven't seen it yet today. This was from Bob Matthews little rant in the Rochester D&C this morning.

"The Detroit Lions reportedly are willing to trade wide receiver Roy Williams for veteran defensive help or a decent draft pick. The No. 7 overall pick in the 2004 draft is 6-foot-3 and would be a nice complement to Lee Evans on the Buffalo Bills. He had 82 catches for 1,310 yards and 7 TDs and made the Pro Bowl in 2006. He had 63 catches for 836 yards and 5 TDs in 2007. He's only 26 years old. Would it be ridiculous for the Bills to offer Detroit the No. 11 pick in the 2008 NFL draft to get him?"

I don't know if this is what the Lions want...but I'd do it in a heartbeat. Maybe try throwing JP for a 4th in the trade as well.
