I agree. Let's get rid of this wussyass defense once and for all and get some men in here.

The Minnesota Vikings (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=min) and defensive tackle Pat Williams (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4117) finalized a three-year, $22 million contract extension Friday.Williams, who is guaranteed at least $9.5 million over the duration of the deal that begins in 2008, is coming off his first Pro Bowl appearance

Pat will be 36 next season. Is this really the way we want to build our team?

under TD. He said had Marv been the GM he'd still be a bill.

I would draft a Dt and while he develops, PAt will suffice in rotation with Kyle.

He can stop the run, therefore he wouldn't fit our system.

Letting Fat Pat go was the worst thing Tom Donahoe did when he was here. It killed our defense. :ill:

While Marv Levy was very careful not to openly criticize most of the personnel decisions that his predecessor had made, when he took over, Marv did comment that letting Pat Williams go was a mistake.

It was the one and only time that I know of in the last two years where Levy publicly said that something that T.Donahoe did was a mistake. That, in and of itself, should tell you how much of a mistake that Marv thought it was and that letting go of "Fat Pat" was not something that he would have done had he been the GM at the time.

After watching the Bills' DTs play run defense the last two years, I think that Levy probably thought that letting Williams go was an even bigger mistake than he did when he made that statement and rued the day when Donahoe decided not to re-sign him. The thing about P.Williams is that, even though he is big, he is quick enough to play in the Tampa 2 and excell--which is exactly what he did in Minnesota's Tampa 2 defense. "Fat Pat" is one of those rare talents who can play well in different defensive sets that generally require different players with different qualities at the DT position. IMHO the Bills defense would have been a whole lot better the last two years if Donahoe had not let Williams get away--but that just goes to show you how bad his management was and now is just "water under the bridge".

Wasn't Marv quoted somehwere prior to the season starting "can we stop the run?" . Fewell asked for more beef in the middle too right after the season ended. He didn't get it. The rest of the DL actually lost weight too. Who makes the decisiosn around here ? This is Dicks last year if he hasn't learned anything.

That's the thing that pisses me off about this defense.
How can you say Ngata couldn't/doesn't fit in this system. That's crazy. That guys 340 lbs but he can move. He's not a tub of fat, and he has plenty of size that Fewell was supposedly looking for.
And our 240 lb, 7 million dollar d-end is too small also.
