    DL Woodward accepts Pats' offer

The Patriots made their annual dip into the restricted free agent pool, signing Seattle defensive tackle Cedric Woodward to an offer sheet this week. Terms of the offer were not available.

Since Woodward was tendered by the Seahawks at the minimum level ($605,000), the Pats would have to give up a sixth-round pick (where Woodward was drafted by Baltimore in 2000) if Seattle declines to match. The Seahawks have a week to do so.

Woodward (6-foot-2, 320 pounds) is considered a project, as he played sparingly for a Seahawks team that finished last in the NFL against the run in 2002. Woodward played 13 games behind former Patriot Chad Eaton last season, mostly on special teams, and had one tackle. He had three tackles in 16 games in 2001.
