Evans named Bills’ Walter Payton Man of the Year

Lee Evans, Buffalo’s leading receiver the last two years, has been named the Bills’ Walter Payton Man of the Year winner as voted on by selected members of the Western New York community.

The award began in 1970 and honors players who demonstrate outstanding balance in their lives between civic and professional responsibilities. It was renamed in 1999 in honor of the late Payton, the Hall of Fame running back of the Chicago Bears.

Evans has been involved in community service since his rookie year of 2004 when, as a member of the Rookie Club he visited Women and Children's Hospital, attended a field trip with Buffalo Public School children to the Historical Society, served Thanksgiving Dinner at Friends of the Night People, and handed out presents at the Bills’ annual Holiday Party for Children.

        Sadly, I agree.

What was he balancing with? His crappy play on the field?

I don't know but some award from within the team isn't really an accomplishment. If it came from the NFL that'd be different...
