IMO, the Top 50 NFL UFA's this March...

I've been an infrequent poster here but in the posts that I have made I have talked about FA and the Draft and the players I advocate Buffalo adding (DT Corey Williams; WR D.J. Hackett; QB Cleo Lemon via FA; #11 Keith Rivers, trading our 2nd and second 3rd back into the late 1st for CB Antoine Cason; TE Martin Rucker with our other 3rd). Instead of focusing on Buffalo alone, I wanted to branch out and order this upcoming batch of UFA's. Even though #1, #2, #4, #6, #7, #8, #9, and #11 might all be franchised, this is still a deeper crop than last year and relatively plentiful. Anyway, here are my rankings, taking into consideration past accomplishments but also age and future potential (that's why somebody like God Himself- soon-to-be 35-year old Tedy Bruschi- is lower than you'd expect; same w/Fred Taylor and others)... Anyway...

Jeff Faine is the guy Cleveland drafted to replace Melvin Fowler and his inadequacies.

I would take Corey Williams, L. J. Smith and Ernest Wilford in a heartbeat. Then I wouldn't mind a linebacker at 11.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

we could shore up our defense with 3 moves. the sad part is, we wont. i would rather have suggs than briggs and suggs would come cheaper. corey williams is a beasts and randall gay is an improvement over mcgee

I think LJ Smith gets to much love. He's injury prone and disappears at times, he also drops a lot of easy passes. I live in the Philly area and unfortunately get way more Eagle coverage then I want.

The draft seems pretty deep in the TE position this year. I say fill some other holes (WR, CB, LB) in FA and go for TE and DT in the draft. Unless of course the Bills can get a hold of Dallas Clark, but i am not holding my breath on that one.

                          I think Dansbys the man.
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
                          It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Karlos Dansby, Corey Williams, and Bryant Johnson or Randy Starks at DT, draft TE or WR in first round

A rare former first round draft pick at Center, (2 spots ahead of mcgahee in the 03 draft) Faine was a Pro Bowl alternate for the 2007. Traded From Cleveland to New Orleans on draft day 05. Nice Mean Streak, would be a perfect fit here. I remember i was huge on him coming out of college(he is actully who i wanted to draft that year.)
