The fourth period seems to think so:

Hawks continue search for powerplay specialist

The Chicago Blackhawks continue to search for an offensive-minded defenseman and have set their sights on two.

Sources tell TFP the Blackhawks are very interested in Buffalo Sabres rearguard Brian Campbell and Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Dan Boyle.

Chicago scouts have attended the Lightning's last two home games, including last night's, while they have also taken in the Sabres' last few home and road games.

Campbell and Boyle are set to become unrestricted free agents this summer and are believed to be on the trade block.

Boyle, who is currently injured, is expected to play Thursday against the Ottawa Senators.

The Blackhawks, according to a source, are supposedly dangling the likes of winger Tuomo Ruutu and young defenseman Cam Barker as trade bait.

That isn't bad traid bait either.

The Chicago Blackhawks may be interested in Brian Campbell.
The Blackhawks have been reporting scouting the Buffalo Sabres. Campbell will become an unrestricted free agent this summer and he has suspended contract talks until after the season's over. While Sabres GM Darcy Regier has played down the possibility of trading Campbell, they may do so now rather than risk losing him on the free agent market. The blueliner has four goals and 29 assists in 48 games this season.

Ruutu and Barker? Umm, no thanks! There are better players on that team (and no, I'm not talking about Toews or Kane) that should come back in a deal.

Ruutu amd Barker are both top 10 picks Nighthawk. Also Campbell is a UFA after the year. I wouldn't be pissed at that trade.

Who would you rather have? I am not arguing at all just interested.

Getting anything in return for Campbell would be a bonus.

Getting actual players would be stunning.

One of my good friends is a huge Blackhawks fan and loves Ruutu. He would be pissed if we get both of those guys for Campbell.
