2. Josh Johnson, San Diego, 6'3, 200lbs, 4.56 40:

Johnson is one of the more intriguing prospects as he comes from non-scholarship F.C.S. San Diego. Johnson didn't face the best competition but he torched them in his career. Perhaps the most impressive stat from this year is that he led the F.C.S. in pass efficiency with a rating of 198.3. He threw for 2,988 yards, 43 touchdowns, and just one interception. A two-time Walter Payton Award Finalist, Johnson became one of the most decorated players in recent F.C.S. history. He has attracted the attention of all 32 teams with his quick release, mobility, arm strength, and athletic ability. Johnson has great upside but will need to gain weight and work on refining his passing skills. One thing to note is that he was tutored by current Stanford Head Coach and former N.F.L. quarterback Jim Harbaugh. Johnson is currently at the East-West Shrine game where he has impressed in his workouts. Some say his stock has moved up to the first day. Right now he is a 3rd to 4th round projection.

That has to be a typo.

Pick that guy up in FA after the draft and have him back edwards up. stats like that are ridiculous regardless of what division he plays in

No rookie QB should see the field unless there's just absolutely no way around it like all three of your other QB's go down in a game or something.

Johnson is somewhere between the 4th-6th best QB prospect in this class. He is currently riding high after his 07 season and performance at the E-W Shrine Game where he showed his ability to throw a tight spiral, put touch on the ball, and make some absolutely sick runs. He needs to add some weight to his frame, bulk up some more and also take time to learn the NFL game so he does not become another Vince Young/Micheal Vick type. But this kid completed over 60% of his passes last season had the highest QB Rating in all of NCAA football and absolutely dominated the DI-AA level. Im very high on him, hell thats who's in my avatar.

Omar Jacobs out of Bowling Green put up ridiculous numbers similiar to that. Drafted by Pittsburgh and cut.

I was high on Jacobs coming out so I'm leery on Johnson now because of the similiarities.

There are some differences here, but I was also high on Jacobs coming out of BGSU. Jacobs was only 5'11 coming out of school, Johnson is 6'1. Jacobs worked out of Urban Meyer's spread option offense, Johnson out of Jim Harbaugh's Pro Style offense. Jacobs never really showed "it" he had a lot of flash but didn't have it. In interviews and in game footage I can see it in Johnson, he is a leader on and off the field and is a gamer. Heck even during the All-Star game he was helping out his teammates and cheering them on.
