Someone else said it first, back when the Dolphins' annually suffered playoff frustration and the University of Miami played for national championships, but the Orange Bowl always felt like a park while Joe Robbie/Pro Player/Dolphin Stadium felt like, well, a stadium.

So perhaps there's some 1972-ish perfection in some grown-up boys getting together for a final pickup football game in the park Saturday. Former Hurricanes on one side, former Dolphins (and a current Dolphin) on the other, each coached by the man who brought them their first championships.

In the stands, cheering when they weren't screaming for autographs, were 12,000 folks from the South Florida neighborhood. A bigger party in the park than some Marlins games.

''I knew people were building it up and were excited about it,'' Dolphins Hall of Fame center Dwight Stephenson said. ``I'd go places during the week and they were talking about the game.''

Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, who called it an honor to play in the game, asked, ``Who wouldn't come out when you have legends on the field like they did today?''

Too injured to play in the All Star game!!!!
