Bills Hire Hackett As Offensive Assistant

The Bills have filled the position formerly held by Alex Van Pelt as Nathaniel Hackett has been named offensive quality control coach.
Hackett has spent the past two seasons serving the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the same capacity.
He is also very familiar with Alex Van Pelt. Hackett's father Paul was Van Pelt's college head coach at the University of Pittsburgh.
Hackett also has a working knowledge of the abilities of Bills quarterback Trent Edwards. He served on the Stanford coaching staff during Edwards first three college seasons from 2003-2005.

I guess this is a good thing if he can help Edwards out.

What the heck does a quality control coach do? And, is there a defensive QCC?

I believe they gather information from watching film, look for tendencies in the opponent.

That's my understanding, and they say AVP was very good at it.

One interesting point in the article was that the assistant O line coaching position was still unfilled. Wonder what happened to the Ray Brown hiring?
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

This is a very good hiring if he coached at Stanford for 3yrs while TE was there, this only aids in his development, and he mite no something that others dont see, also knows his strengths and weakness a little better, this also give TE a young QB a familiar face to bond with while going over plays and reads,
I like this addition this kid is upincoming and can only aid in he development of Edwards
