After posting an incredibly fast 40-time of 4.84 on a fast surface at his University of Kentucky workout, DT Dewayne Robertson has driven some teams crazy with his potential.

Pro Football Weekly hears that the Vikings like him so much that they are considering trading up from their seventh overall draft position because they believe he will be a top-five pick.

Management is set to prove that what happened to the team last year, when it missed the boat on North Carolina DT Ryan Sims, will not happen again. A year ago, team officials were excited about pairing Sims next to Pro Bowl-caliber DT Chris Hovan.

When the Chiefs learned of the Vikings’ intentions, they moved quickly to trade up and draft Sims with the No. 7 pick, upsetting the Vikings, who were left with subsequent half-season-long holdout OT Bryant McKinnie.

This year, the Vikings have their eyes on a defensive tackle once again, and they believe Robertson is the most solidly built, fundamentally sound run plugger of the group. He has the nastiness and consistency they don’t see in Penn State’s Jimmy Kennedy, whom some teams regard as the top interior defensive lineman.

Because the Bears are expected to go after a defensive lineman with their first pick, the Texans could find a taker for the No. 3 overall pick they are looking to trade. The Saints and Patriots, who each have two first-round draft picks, are also very high on Robertson and are considering a move up the draft boards.
