The Bills surprisingly did not include any weight clauses in the deal they gave to defensive tackle Sam Adams. He did promise the team he would be an active member of the offseason program, with an eye on losing weight. Adams did have some playing-time incentives in the four-year deal that averages $2.562 million. Adams received a $1.5 million signing bonus as part of the deal. He also gets $100,000 in roster bonuses in each of the next two seasons and $150,000 in reporting bonuses. His cap figure for this year is a reasonable $1.375 million. It goes up to $2.625 million in 2004, $2.875 million in 2005 and $3.975 million in 2006. That's pretty reasonable for a player the Bills think can be the answer to their run-defense woes -- if he can stay in shape.

That doesn't bother me if he's out os shape then I don't think he'll get all of his incentives, he would have to be in shape to get those. Go Bills!

why would he need a weight clause?

his contract basically says.. play well or dont get paid well.. he is a grown man... he doesnt need someone holding his hand.. if he wants to get paid.. he will do what he needs to.

only 1.375mil?

TD absolutely stole Sam for that figure... reasonable is an understatement… Heck if Adams comes into camp at 400lbs it's still a steal...
