does anyone truly think that our COVER 2 scheme is gonna be what finally beats the pats in a reg season game?

and im being dead serious. heavy pressure had brady all messed up but hey lets rush 4 white guys drop a bunch of 225 pound LBs in coverage and play our DBs 2 deep with the cbs 10 yards off the line of scrimmage.

I know there were a lot of blitzes, but wasn't it the Giants front four that that put all that pressure on Brady? The Cover 2 requires that the DLine be able to apply heavy pressure on the QB... if we were doing that, we might get similar results to what the Giants (and Indy at times in the past) has. Hard to complain about the scheme when we don't have the appropriate players to run it. This is why, even though we have big bucks in our DEs and we've blown a #1 on DT recently, a lot of attention needs to be given to the DL in this year's offseason.

That would only make too much sense BWB. I mean its not like the Cover 2 has never been a defense of a SB winning team or anything...

An improved D-line would improve the LB and Secondary positions without adding anyone to them.

its all about talent

the bills need at least one more stud on the dline, two if you dont count schobel which is debateable

they also need to have poz in there who looks like an erlacher/zach type game changer already to dominate the middle

and they need one more stud olb who is a serious pass rushing threat to suck up offensive line attention which greatly helps the dline get penetration

two players sounds ez but those kinds are hard to find and in high demand. lets keep our fingers crossed the bills do in facy to those positions what they did to the ol last year

We simply don't have the people to make it work. If you're the Bucs, Colts, Bears and have the right people it works well.

and when u dont have the people to make somehting work u come with a new scheme to give yourself the best chance to suceed.

so once again blitzing man to man scheme bring a hell of alot more scheming and therefore more success becuz an offense doesnt know exactly what D will do 50% of the time.

The cover 2, hell, ANY scheme can work with the right players, right coaches. we could be running the same damn scheme the giants do and we would suck also, because we dont have the talent on the field and on the sidelines.
