After a successful battle against Burkitt's lymphoma almost two years ago, former Bills quarterback Joe Ferguson is now facing a new and more serious fight with cancer. A few weeks ago Ferguson was diagnosed with Acute Myelogenous Leukemia.
Currently in the intensive care unit at the world-renowned M.D. Anderson cancer treatment center in Houston, Ferguson's condition improved slightly Monday.
"He had a good night and is beginning to get some of his color back," said Ferguson's wife Sandy. "He is still on the oxygen but both his blood pressure and heart rate are lower. Joe's blood count is still low, but better than it was previously."

Let's all pray again for Joe. He just can't seem to get ahead of these ugly health issues.

I use to love those sideline passes from Fergie to Bobby Chandler. Those were a thing of beauty.

Those were before my time, who do you think Ferguson is most like in todays league?

Jeez, I haven't heard much about Joe in years. I didn't know he'd suffered from such chronic illness. I am very sorry to hear about it - I used to like watching Joe play back in the 70s and early 80s. I wish him the best of luck.

He was playing right up until '95 (at 45 years old)... playing quarterback for the CFL's San Antonio team alongside Jack Kemp's son Jimmy.

He has a lot of courage... I send my prayers.

Fergy never really had a team around him. When OJ was at his peak the team ran a lot. There were only a couple of years when Fergy was able to show his stuff because the 70s were a black hole for Bills football. Fergy was solid as far as technique. The game has changed a lot so to compare him to somebody of today is tough. I would have to say he had the tools to be Drew Brees like.

Cool, thanks for the mini-history lesson.
