Looks like he doesn't get along with his team very well.

According to a league source, the general consensus in the New York Giants locker room is that the players are squarely behind any decision of the team to trade or to release running back Ron Dayne.

The source tells us that the team is extremely close-knit, and that the players don't approve of Dayne's decision to stay away from voluntary conditioning and strength training.

Historically, the players haven't been enamored with Dayne's work habits or on-field performance. A separate league source tells us that Dayne is known as "Self-Tackle" among teammates, given his propensity to collapse on first contact.

The addition of Dorsey Levens to the Giants' backfield suggests that Dayne is done in New York. Though some might think that the Giants have forfeited their leverage by adding Levens before trying to trade Dayne, the fact that Dayne is entering the final year of a very favorable contract might make a team more willing to send a draft pick, since Dayne probably would want more money as a free agent.

The Giants say that no one has expressed an interest in trading for Dayne. Even so, there surely are some teams who would give the former Heisman Trophy winner a shot. The Eagles and Cowboys might be interested, especially since Dayne comes from a divisional foe. Other teams that might have an interest in Dayne include the Titans, Colts, Chiefs, Packers, Jags, Chargers, and Saints.

Still, Dayne will need to get his head on straight (and possibly dump his agent) if he has any hope of getting a real chance to stay in the NFL.

The Giants have misused him, almost the same way the Saints misused ricky.....you dont mold a RB,.... you work with what the RB already has.
