miss the playoffs because the South East Conference suck mighty ass. I hate that pro sports does this including the NFL. It rewards a teams for sucking. I see what they are trying to do but it sucks.

They have 4 games in hand on the Rangers and 3 on Carolina, Florida and Atlanta.

They will finish 6th or 7th.

I hope that does happen, but someone is probably going to get screwed. Hopefully they'll at least look at reseeding the playoffs by points for next year.

I think it is downright ******ED that teams make the playoffs just based on how ****ty their division is.

It should be based STRICTLY on points, thats it.

Yes, having to deal with the Southeastern Division down here all the time, it annoys the **** out of me that the team that wins the division is going to be 3rd, and probably be about 9th or 10th in the Conference in points...

we had a 2-0 lead going into the 3rd against Boston and couldn't get the job done on Friday.... that's going to hurt.

theyre considering going back to straight seeding based on points for just that reason

the problem is you want to keep as many cities interested in the game for as long as possible and having division winners get a spot is terrific for that

think about it youve got four or five cities clinging onto the edge of their seats every game now cuz they know their team probably has to win the division to make it in. if you eliminate the division winner loophole then all of those cites lose most of their interest and ticket sales blow

similar thing happens in football when a team makes it in at 9-7 or 10-6 when another team with more wins from a different division has a better record but has a powerhouse team in their division and they miss out on a tie breaker for one of the two wcs

i just dont think the nhl or nfl for that matter will ever sacrifice ticket sales just to be 'fair'. its gonna suck for some teams some years but thats just the way it is

Especially when it's the Southeast division where fanhood in Raleigh/Miami/Atlanta/Washington/Tampa is already marginal at best... They have to do everything they can to give fans in those markets a reason to watch.

I think they will make the playoffs. It is very tight though. I would love for them to be a 6 seed and play the winner of the Southeast conference.
