Normally i am not a doom and gloom guy but 6.5mil a year for NYR Henrik Lundqvist could spend the end of days for Ryan Miller when he becomes a FA, they are very simliar goalies and the way our management is and has dealt with these situations in the past i hope Enroth is gonna be outstanding
I hope i am completely wrong!!

I was talking about this with Dr. Lecter at the Sabres game last week. Miller is easily going to cost us $6-7 million per year. Now i'm starting to think he's right. With that price, we can't afford Campbell at $6 per.

what makes you think that Darcy is going to try to resign Miller?

These are my exact fears, call it shell shock from Breire, Drury, Greir, Dumont, McKee etc. we will be known as the minor league of the NHL developing talent for everyone else

I see them throwing big money at Miller soon this summer...

he's too much of a Buffalo-guy to bolt...

Miller will command 6-7 million a year pretty easily in my opinion and the Sabres will pay it to him. If he wants to stay here he will. He's by far the fan favorite on this team and the front office isn't stupid enough to let him walk regardless of what some here will say to the contrary.

They will lose Campbell before they lose Miller. No way will they let him get away.

They won't lose Miller. He is the franchise.

Sabres can't talk to Miller about a new contract until next year that's what the CBA says.

Actually, I think this deal is a good thing for Buffalo. I was expecting the Rangers to set a new benchmark price. If we assume Miller is our franchise goalie then I will gladly pay him 6.5m.

I am not worried about this one, the team will pay Miller regardless.

Good point. I figured the Rangers would have paid more too. I was worried that we were looking at $7-8 million per year for Miller. Now it won't be as bad.

How come people get extentions left and right in the NHL?

That's what the offseason is for.

If Miller doesn't have a new deal by September, Larry Quinn should be chopped into many pieces, and those pieces should be burned.

They can only get extended when there is one year left on the deal. They can't extend him until July 1.

How come people get extentions left and right in the NHL?

It used to be you never had to negotiate with Restricted Free Agents and really only had to qualify them and then get them at your price. Now with the offer sheets they are just as likely to leave as a UFA.

Its funny but the cost controls the cap made, plus the relatively lower compensation standards for Restricted FA have actually flooded the market with available players and eliminated the lower end (RFA) cost controls.

So what I am saying is. The NHL, it appears, may have gotten their a#@ handed to them when we look back at this. The NHL got big short term strides, but the players made out huge long term.

Somewhere Bob Goodenow is smiling.

There is the extension, 6-years $44 million (7.33 per).
