Bill Belichick has been illegally taping opponents' defensive signals since he became the New England Patriots' coach in 2000, according to Sen. Arlen Specter, who said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told him that during a meeting Wednesday.

"There was confirmation that there has been taping since 2000, when Coach Belichick took over," Specter said.

"There were a great many questions answered by Commissioner Goodell," Specter, the senior Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, told reporters after the meeting. "I found a lot of questions unanswerable because of the tapes and notes had been destroyed."

Goodell said Belichick told him he believed the taping was legal; Goodell said he did not concur.

I won't let myself think about what the ramifications have been.. All I can hope at this point is that f**ker and everyone in the organization that has 'played along' get what they deserve, which of course won't happen.

The Pats have taped for 7 seasons (112 games not including the playoffs)

The Commish asked the Pats to turn over all evidence of taping

The Pats give the NFL 6 tapes and some notes

The Commish destroys the evidence

Sounds like a cover up to me. I have more game tapes than that in my closet.

nothing is going to come of this. It's obvious there is something fishy here, but the pats are going to talk about how impossible it is for there to be a coverup...and then the main media will feel like it's pushing a tabloid story with no meat instead of investigating deeper into what has happened.

Congress won't act quick enough, and by the time they get really into it, the pats reign will have come to a conclusion naturally and the bills will have moved.

There is no justice...that is the one thing you can count on.
