    Current Roster and Team Needs

This is our current roster minus street free agents/camp fodder picked up over the winter. About 51 total roster spaces used up with the names in brackets listed because they were on the roster last year or have a shot absent a draft pick. Draft picks could easily replace bracketed players. Seems like we need depth/competition at CB, WR, OG/C, RB, TE, WLB and we need a return specialist if Rogers does not resign. A DT or DE in the middle rounds of the draft also makes sense to push the guys on the roster. Realistically, the only places a rookie could possible start are FS and TE, and even those are highly unlikely. "()" = my draft analysis:

QB: Bledsoe, Van Pelt, Brown (likely none; late round at best)
RB: Henry, Morris, [Burns/Simonton/Parker=1 of three] (possible mid round selection)
    FB: Gash, Crosby (none)
WR: Moulds, Reed, Shaw, Johnson, [Rone] (Rds 2-5, look for speed)
TE: Moore, Campbell, [McDonell] (2d round = D. Clark?)
OT: Williams, Jennings, Price, [Houghton] (late round only b/c of salary tied up in Williams)
OG: Brown, Sullivan, [Pucillo] (mid rounder?)
C: Teague (need something, but not top pick b/c money invested in Teague)

DE: Schoebel, Jones, McKenzie, Irons, Denney (need, but only with right prospect, preferrably speed rusher)
DT: Williams, Adams, Edwards, Bannon (better depth would not hurt)
WLB: Spikes, [Denman] (only for depth/special teams)
    MLB: Fletcher, Spoon, [Stevenson] (none)
    SLB: Posey, Polk (none/ST)
CB: Winfield, Clements, Thomas, [Watson/Bostic/Brooks/Floyd=2 of four] (better depth needed, but not in round 1 b/c then we will loose Winfield next year
SS: Wire (if Reese impresses, Prioleau competes w/Wire)
FS: Prioleau, Reese, [Driver] (need, but is there a rookie that could beat out Prioleau/Reese?)

    K: Lindell
    P: Moorman
    KR/PR: (need somebody)

Trading down from first round seems like best option so we can get quality depth from rounds 2-5 without worrying about how much we are paying the rook and whether or not he is a bust.

Any way you look at it, looks a lot better than this time last year!

I think at safety, Wire is probably set. I think at this point the team's thinking is that Reese will probably beat out Prioleau at FS. Prioleau will then back up Wire at SS. Reese and Driver is probably not a satisfying combo for the Bills at FS so I think a draftee is likely to increase the competition there. There are a number of FSs in the draft that have the chance to break into the top two at FS if the competition is Reese and Driver.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

taking a CB with speed and kick return skills in the third and switching him to free safety would solve 2 of our weaknesses

I think we need another SLB to replace Posey, I have a weird feeling about him.

Don't we have another CB in Scott Turner or does he play both CB and S?

spoon is fine now.. just hope his bicep holds up.. he tore it in college too... he has too much muscle.. too tight and pop..

man.. mathis seems like such a logical choice for us.. he could easily win the starting FS spot, and be used as CB when needed, so reese could essentially be used to fill in at FS, if mathis was covering as a cb for a certain formation or whatever..

trade down and get mathis and clarke!!!

I think Spoon tore his left bicep in college. Then he tore his right bicep last year...or vice versa. Strange stuff.
