  • Talking about a big WR option .....

Before you all laugh, I would want to bring a certain big WR into training camp to have a look

MIKE WILLIAMS, UFA (Formerly of the Titans, Raiders and Lions)

    Why?

Well he's 6ft5, and has a playing weight as low as 229lbs though he has had weight issues.

He's only 24, so there is a chance he will get better.

He has technical issues like a bad case of dropping the ball, but at his age these could be overcome. I've not heard of any character issues and he recently he got married, bringing some stability to his private life.

He seems to have suffered first by not being allowed to go back to college after failing to get in the 2004 draft missing a year out of the game, then being drafted by a team where they already had two top WRs and then being shuffled off to the awful Raiders and the passing inadequate Titans.

At the very least he could be offered a minimum deal with a few incentives and as a childhood BUFFALO BILLS fan, if he wants to make it anywhere it will be here.

And if he doesn't its cost us a few $$$. I've seen us sign worse FA options who never amde the team

I'd consider taking a look at him, what would it hurt?

It took 5 years for Jimmy Smith to produce. Drafted in 1992, it wasn't until 1996 that he started to perform and he was out of the game for a year during this period.

The Raiders released Williams after he dropped a touchdown pass and they went on to ultimately lose the game. You could argue it was a kneejerk reaction, and didn't the Raiders trade Moss for next to nothing? Not the best example for spotting a WR.

As for the Titans, who's the say they won't resign him? He wasn't released he simply is scheduled to be a Free Agent. And joining mid season he was bound to be at the back of the queue and combined Rondyell Williams and Gage got more yardage than Evans/Reed .... who's WR starved?

Do we give a shot to a guy like Johnson or Wilford who have played regularly and seldom produced, or take a cheap flyer on a guy who may have 10 years left in the game and arguably has not been given a chance? He's more likely to make it than Teyo Johnson !!!!

I'd give him a look. For the right price.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

As desperate as he'll be for work he'll come for very little.

Apparently he's ballooned (according to an article I read a few days ago) to as much as 280...I think we should pass...

Lots of athletes baloon up and down in weight.

His willingness to shift that weight, if its an accurate report, can determine how serious he is.

Add weight related clauses into his contract

I think i would stay away from this guy, doesnt seem like he has it, the only way i would pick him up is league minimum and he would have to beat someone out for a roster spot, i wouldnt ink him in anywhere

I would look at him for the league minimum, hell maybe it's just that their systems didn't fit him I would look at Carlos Rogers too I know he has had injury problems but hey at league minimum what the heck he has tons of talent
