    Sibling Support

I remember when Tom Brady was drafted," said Shelby who is seven years older than Trent. "He has three older sisters and one of his sisters went to New England with him as a rookie. And I remember at the time thinking, should Trent ever get to that point I would do the same thing."

In December 2006, when it was obvious he would be an NFL draft pick she broached the subject with Trent.
"She asked me what my thoughts were on her moving wherever I wind up," said Trent. "She was at a point in her life where she could move jobs pretty easily and thought it would be a good opportunity for her to try something new and help me out off the field."
Of course there was just one minor issue.
"The funny thing was I made a comment where I said, 'Even if I go to Buffalo you'd want to go with me,'" Edwards recalled. "She's not a cold weather person and she said, 'I'd love to go.' So then when I got drafted here we looked at each other and I said, 'I guess you're still coming with me.'"
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.
