  • Should we cut Roscoe Parrish?

Some will consider this a knee jerk reaction, but considerting the moves we all want to see occur in Free Agency and the Draft, is it really sensible to retain him?

If we pick up a WR in Free Agency and on in the draft, Parrish will be behind these guys plus Evans and Reed - thats 5th on the depth chart yet we are paying him in excess of $4m.

He may be a decent punt/kick returner but these guys can be picked up in the 6th and 7th rounds.

Getting caught on a DUI is absolutely stupid - and its not a first time brush with the law.

Cutting him will be an immediate flag to all the guys we draft that we want you to behave like Paul Posluzny not Anthony Hargrove and the cost to us short term will benefit us in the long term.

This is ridiculous! NO WAY! If anything, they should use him more and definitely make him a bigger part of the offense. Also, I don't care what anyone says, I think he should be our primary returner. When given a chance at KR, he has done pretty well. And we all know what he does at PR. It would be a definite knee jerk reaction thing to do if they cut him or trade him and a stupid thing at that.

thats smart.. so lets take the one thing we do good, special teams, and screw that up by cutting our best special teams player.. so we can add a different 5th wr that wont make a difference.

                awful thread.

Because it's so hard to go out and get a new return specialist these days?

You guys make it out like without Parrish we'd be in serious trouble. Christ.

Hell Jim Leonhard even averaged 9.0 yards per return the past season. With our team's offense or lack thereof, what's 7 yards per series? Absolutely nothing.

Other guys who averaged over 10 yards per return on the season...Tramon Williams, TJ Rushing, Glenn Martinez, Yamon Figurs, Will Blackmon, Josh Cribbs. Outside of Figurs and then Cribbs, who was an undrafted QB, btw...have you heard of any of them? Exactly my point. Even Dante Hall who many suspected was done averaged 1 yard less per PR on the year.

I'm not advocating getting rid of Parrish, seeing we just gave him a new deal, but my God...the love for "specialists" on this team is downright stupid.

Let's see. Bennett,Bruce Smith,Talley & Thurman were all pulled over during their Bills tenure.

Why weren't they cut again ?

Come on! He's not just any punt returner. He led the league in return average. And that was also with a bunch of scrubs on PR for half the season.

                            Parrish is not a "specialist."

He not only led the league in punt return average but he caught 35 passes as well, with only 1 drop. That may not seem like a lot of production but, considering how conservative the Bills attack was last season, it is significant.

                              For me

                              1. He's ridiculously overpaid
                              2. Returning has got as much to do with blocking as the runner himself so its not as if he's irreplacebale
                              3. When Price went down he still didn't contribute much
                              4. With a couple of receivers coming in, he's likely to be fifth on the depth chart
                              5. We have plenty of players who can return and none costing $4m a season
                              6. The players NightTrain mentioned contributed down in and down out, Parrish does not
                              7. Alcohol is regarded by Goodall as falling under the substance abuse policy. If we pay players millions, shouldn't we expect them to display a marginal amount of intelligence rather than risk possible suspensions that will harm the team? He cannot contribute if he's suspended.

What is it about us ridiculously overpaying players? Parrish has not done much and well continues to offer not much more than a player who could cost under $1m a season.

We've overpaid on Tripplett, Royal, Price, Fowler Kelsay and Denney, clearly overpaid Parrish and even Dockery and Walker have not justified the huge amounts we have offered them.

Until we start getting our act together, cap space will be taken up by players who's performance and behaviour does not warrant it, preventing us pursuing those key performers everyone loves to mention.
