Though the player's union likely is basking in the glow of arbitrator Richard Bloch's ruling that voidable years represent key terms of offer sheets, we're hearing that the NFLPA is "scared to death" by the recent bankruptcy court ruling regarding agent David Dunn.

As reported last week by Street & Smith's Sports Business Journal, the bankruptcy court ruled that NFLPA efforts to discipline Dunn were barred by his bankruptcy filing.

The NFLPA now fears that any of its agents who are facing the possibility of suspension or decertification will simply file for bankruptcy, which essentially will enable them to continue representing players while the case is pending. In some cases, bankruptcy matters don't close for years.

Though Dunn presents an extreme example of the phenomenon, the simply reality is that there are plenty of bad agents out there, and just as the NFLPA is finally showing a real desire to deal with the problem, Dunn has provided them all with a road map for short-term safety.
