    Holliday happy with Chiefs deal

Free agency didn't turn out quite the way Vonnie Holliday wanted but the former Green Bay Packers defensive end landed with a solid team and pulled in a sizable signing bonus anyway.

Holliday had an offer last summer from the Packers that would have paid him around $4 million a year over six years, including a $5.5 million signing bonus, but he turned it down in hopes of something bigger.

Holliday, 27, received a five-year, $21 million deal from the Kansas City Chiefs that includes a $4 million signing bonus, according to a source close to Holliday. At least, that's as it appears on paper. What he wound up with, for all intents and purposes, was a two-year, $6.3 million deal because in Year 3, he is due a $5 million roster bonus that will force the Chiefs to either release him or renegotiate.
