Bears | Team offers contract to T. Harris
Tue, 19 Feb 2008 10:21:43 -0800

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears have made a contract offer to DL Tommie Harris. Harris is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent Feb. 29.

Now we are talking about real impact guys. However, I think the Bears would be stupid not to franchise him (unless they don't have that option) and it would really break the bank for the Bills to sign him as a UFA. If you are Tommy, you ask yourself why would I come to Buffalo? The answer? A lot of greens.<!--QuoteEnd-->

I wanted him over Lee Evans that Draft day but he's hurt quite often.

If Tommie Harris became available, id hand him a blank check and ask him to fill in whatever it will take.

I know everybody here always wants to bring in EVERY guy who gets let go by a team, well this is one guy we should do everything possible to land if he is let go. No questions asked.

is there another source saying he is a UFA?

that report could just be wrong since we havent heard his name before on the UFA lists

After releasing three players Monday, the Bears made revised contract offers to Bernard Berrian, Tommie Harris, and Lance Briggs.
Special teamer Brendon Ayanbadejo also got an offer. Financial terms aren't available, but apparently the Bears aren't completely asleep at the wheel. Each of the four players is represented by agent Drew Rosenhaus. Chicago re-signing all four is unrealistic. Briggs is almost certainly gone and they may have to franchise Berrian to keep him. No way he's leaving Chicago.

Chicago is ******ED if they even let him come close.
He makes an entire front seven better by himself.

unless he had a opt out after 4 yrs, he is a UFA next season

He came out in '04 putting him in the same contract area as evan (1 yr left since the 6th yr is easily voidable)

i want briggs, but i'll jump for joy if we get harris.

sign harris, sign a decent wr in FA, and we can go LB, CB, DT, DE, WR, anything with our first pick and can pick up impact players with the rest of our picks.

that would be the best possible guy for our D.

alright.. Well that makes sense.

If was a FA i'm SURE Chicago would've slapped the Franchise tag on him already... He'd be a lot bigger news too than Haynesworth.

I was about to post that Harris doesn't hit FA until 2009. If he was a FA in 2008 everybody would've known this back in the summer before the season started.
