Well, with free agency right around the corner literally and the fact I haven't put up a mock in at least a month, I figured it was about that time. Also, my original first round choice for us to take has now decided to go back to school for his senior season as well.

So without any further ado...

1. Keith Rivers OLB USC
2. Martellus Bennet TE Texas A&M
3a. Trae Williams CB So Fla
3b. DeMario Pressley DT NC St
4. Darnell Terrell CB Mizzou
5a. Korey Lichtensteiger C Bowling Green
5b. Marcus Monk WR Ark
6. Robert Felton G Ark
7. Mike Peterson TE/H-back NW Mizzou St

All thoughts, compliments, criticism, flames welcomed!

Sorry but for me Rivers cannot be the pick at No11, and my personal preference is to trade down because:

1. If we pick him, we'll almost certainly have to start him and that means we have two virtual rookies (Poz has 3 games) starting which is far too inexperienced

2. Without sorting out the DL, especially the interior, these guys are going to be shell shocked again, maybe having a mental impact on them that they'll struggle to recover from, from getting run all over.

3. To build a playoff and championship winning team, we need to balance the availability of players at different positions in both the draft and free agency. Reports are the Packers may franchise Williams which means there is hardly anything at DT in Free Agency, while there could be 8 LBs who could come in and upgrade the corps (Briggs, Hobson, Bailey, Lehman, Boley, Pace, Chillar and Miller) all experienced but young enough to become a fixture. If we are to spend a high pick on a LB it should be next year when Poz will hopefully have 19 starts.

Personally we trade down if possible and get a No2.

I'd then go

R1. Pat Sims DT - dump Jefferson and get a decent 1-tackle
R2a. Dre Moore DT - jettison Tripplett, start McCargo and draft a 3-tackle
R2b. Adarius Bowman WR - our possession receiver
R3. John Carlson TE - or any other TE
R3b. Justin King CB - a decent solid corner with height and speed
R4. Titus Brown DE - 3rd down pass rusher
R5a. Andrew Crummey G - a big guy who has experience at C
R5b. Kirk Barton OG/T
R6 Andrew Studebaker DE/OLB - small school 6ft4, 255lbs, 4.66 dash
R7a Ricky Santos QB or other
R7b Matt Hahn FB or other

We need to use the depth at LB in Free Agency to our advantage. Whilst guys seem to love Rivers, next year Sean Lee of Penn St is coming out, he could be just as good and will come into a team where the tackles have been fixed.

Kernoboy, you assume we CAN trade down. Who would you take at 11? Other then your first two picks, I like your mock. But, I have us signing a free agent DT.

Oh, and I agree with hoofhearted. But, FunTimes, I assume you have us signing a FA WR. And, maybe a DT.

I could live with that but only if we picked up Briggs or Bailey.

I'd probably take Kelly, and try to draft Moore in R2, but I think it would be a bad option.

The problem is there is very little at DT in Free Agency. We might be able to get Randy Starks and light a fire under him but apart from that .......

I think Marcus Monk is the real deal, without injury concerns he'd be a day 1 pick. Has big size, soft hands and decent speed. But like I said the injury makes him a perfect 5th round pick for us. A 6'5' guy with 4.7 speed.

And yes, I do believe we'll make a play for Justin Gage via FA.

At pick 11 with our "needs" I think anyone we're picking just strictly by need, DT, C, TE, WR that we'd be reaching. Kentwan Balmer is an intriguing option at 11, but is a reach. Rivers while doesn't satisfy the biggest need on the team does represent the biggest value seeing I hate Keith Ellison and think an upgrade is necessary at the position.

And I don't think Balmer is much better than picking DeMario Pressley in Rd3.

Rivers is my guy..
I"d be thrilled, and pretty surprised if he doesnt go to N.O. before us.

Not bad FTY. I don't agree with them all but it's one of the more solid drafts thus far.

kernowboy, your draft is starting to look better now. I had my heart set on Corey Williams. :-(

But, I still don't think two DTs can be drafted.

Or perferably something like our first and third to Dallas for their 22nd and 28th. I'll be back to tell you how I would like to see that roll. Flavor of Love is coming on.

I just think you have to go WR in the second. And, then settle for TE in the third, because there seems to be incredible depth there. Oh, and 4.7? I'm faster then that.

I don't really like the the Trae Williams pick. He seems to be similar to what we have now. If we did go, CB, I'd almost prefer a bigger DB like Terrell who you have in the 5th.

I like all the other picks. I think Bennett in the 2nd round is good and fills such a big need and think it would be worth picking him a little early.
