Patriots named Dom Capers defensive backs coach. Capers, the Dolphins defensive coordinator from 2006-2007, adds another highly experienced mind to Bill Belichick's staff. The Pats' secondary is set to undergo changes in 2008, and Capers will help make the transition smooth.

Wow.

Either he's getting paid a helluva chunk of change, has lost all confidence to lead, or Kraft is setting up to be able to pass the torch to an experienced HC after BB gets his ass handed to him.

He stated his exact reason for taking the job (http://www.bostonherald.com/blogs/sports/patriots/index.php/2008/02/22/capers-talks-about-new-job/):

I thought there would be an opportunity to work with Bill, and help him in any way I could. I’ve known Bill for a long time. I have a lot of respect for him as a coach and the way he’s done things. Obviously, the success he’s had there as a coach in New England is unprecedented, really. So, the familiarity with Bill, the success he’s had, and the respect I’ve had competing against him over the years, that’s why I thought I’d come to New England and start working with the secondary.

I always thought that DLine was Capers' speciality.
