Vilma given permission to seek trade...

The Jets have given ILB Jonathan Vilma permission to shop himself for a potential trade. Vilma is coming off knee surgery, but he was a Pro Bowl alternate his second season, and just doesn't fit well into Eric Mangini's 3-4 defense. He'll seek a long-term deal with a team that would then have to work out a trade with the Jets. Reuniting with former Jets defensive coordinator Donnie Henderson in Jacksonville is a possibility.

    under achiever.... no thanks
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
    It was all
true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can
mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Not for what it will likely cost us to get him.

You don't have to be a genius to know that he'll likely command top dollar. Add to that the fact that you'd still have to give up a first day pick (likely a first rounder) and he's not worth it.

Trade Market for players is down, if D. Hall is only going for the lowest 1st I bet we could swing a 3rd for Vilma.

"Only?" Hall is a joke, I wouldn't give anything more than a third.

It will be interesting to see how many of these players on the trading block end up being cut like DeShawn Foster-
