Arkansas RB Darren McFadden ran an unofficial 4.27 forty at the NFL Combine Sunday. Hello. McFadden was considering not running in the weeks leading up to the Combine, but it's good he did. For perspective, Adrian Peterson ran 4.40 and 4.37 times last year. If McFadden's time stands, he and Appalachian State WR Dexter Jackson will have posted the fastest 40s at the Combine so far.

The guys on NFL network were going nuts. They couldn't believe it. Even the big guys like Mendehal and Stewart had around 4.4 40's.

Would the Jets try and trade up to take him? As looking in the top 6 picks not sure anyone next to them really need a young RB, unless argue the Falcons do.

He's still not the best RB in this years draft though.

The cement is poured and now hardening no questions McFadden is the top back.

The cement is poured and now hardening no questions McFadden is the top back. Didnt mendenhall still run a 4.44 at what 15 lbs heavier. I dont think that McFadden is definately the top RB but he is definately in the talks for it. I think Jonathan Stewart ran a 4.44 at 25lbs heavier than mcfadden as well. There is definately room for discussion among those three

Neither Medenhall nor Stewart are the game breaking runners that McFadden are. They are top backs no doubt, but McFadden is a definite step above, not to mention he can play a little QB too.

I wouldn't be interested in a RB that doesn't want to run between the tackles.

All three do that, but I think the most unheralded back may just be Kevin Smith from UCF, the guy is a beast.

He ran a 4.27 followed by a 4.33. How is one official and one not:idunno:

Hopefully that is enough to convince Jerry Jones to trade up to #1 and get him:up:

Depends on who's doing the timing, I imagine. It may be that someone hand timed him at 4.27 and the combine has ann electroninc timer system. 4.33 is nothing to sneeze at in any case. I thought he would probablly end up being the fastest back at the combine.

gr8 how on earth do you argue dmac isnt the top back, much less only 3rd best?

Chris Johnson from East Carolina was supposed to be the other super fast RB. How did he do?

Devin

Yeah, I didn't believe DB when he told me how good he was. Then I found some games of his and now I'm completely sold. Good call on DB's part.

btw Kevin Smith broke the 4.45 barrier on one of his 40's, which is huge for him as he was just barely hoping to keep it around 4.55
