Steve Bernier is getting a great chance to make a good first impression.

The right winger, acquired by the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday in exchange for Brian Campbell, will play alongside center Derek Roy and left wing Thomas Vanek tonight when the Sabres host Nashville. Bernier will also play on the Sabres' second power-play unit in front of the net.

He and Vanek play very similar games and should work well together. Bernier is a bit rougher and Vanek a bit more skilled.

i think it was roy on the primary pass

but vanek made the nice bounce pass off the boards that sprung roy past the defender

I like that even better than the goal! I can't remember the last time I saw a Sabre go into the opposing crease and dig at the puck. It seems to happen to Miller on a nightly basis without any repercussions.

I liked his first shift where the puck was going to go over the Preds net and he grabbed it out of the air and dropped it to put it on net. I have never noticed anyone do that in front of the net before.

You can tell the kid is talented by the way he handles the puck. I'm very impressed so far. He fits perfectly on that line.

Very impressed so far.....He seems to be in the right place at the right time...Great passes and two goals so far...Still too early to tell but this may be another great trade by Regier for Bernier since the Sabre were probably going to lose Campbell.
