Rosenhaus: Stroud available for trade

In listening to ESPN 2's "First Take" a short time ago, Drew Ronsenhaus was interviewed. He said Jags Pro Bowl DT Marcus Stroud has been available for trade and expects to field a lot of phone calls about him.

he's an established run-stuffing DT and I'd love to have him, but Rosenhaus alone makes me cringe.

I would have no problem offering our 2nd round draft pick to either the Jaguars for Marcus Stroud or the Packers for Corey Williams. Both those guys are exactly what we need.

He was suspended for 4 games last season for a banned substance. Next violation is a one year suspension.

Do you still want him? Especially when he's gonna cost us big bucks and a draft pick?

No thanks, his ankle injury is possibly career threatening and will cost us far too much for the gamble.

Stroud when healthy was an absolute FORCE on that DL with Henderson.

Hes been banged up the past few seasons. The suspension is a non issue since apparently half the NFL is close to a 1 year suspension.

Id make the trade but it would be dependent entirley on his deal.

As high as a 2nd for stround isnt a bad deal so long as a new deal was negotiated. He no question has the talent.

the suspension is a HUGE issue, even bigger than the ankle if he passes a physical.

great player, but can't do much if he's suspended.

pacman, odel thurman, that wr for cinci, hargrove, travis henry, all got busted AGAIN after being on the one more eff up and your gone train.

they are/were all very solid -- outstanding players too.

v risky to put your eggs in that basket

He has 3 years left on his deal, $5M in 2008, $5.5M in 2009 and $6M in 2010. That isn't unreasonable money for a good DT in today's market.

However, given his history it wouldn't be surprised if Rosenhaus was looking for a new deal with the trade. That might even be part of the reason the Jags are looking to deal him.
