off AP wire ....

In an attempt to fill other needs this offseason, the Bills have expressed interest in former Tennessee tight end Ben Troupe, who is scheduled to visit with the team this weekend. The Bills have also had preliminary talks with former Arizona receiver Bryant Johnson, said agent Joel Segal, who represents both Johnson and Troupe.

per rotoworld.com

The Bears are working to set up a visit with free agent WR Bryant Johnson.

It'd be Johnson's first visit. He could be in Chicago by early next week. It's no surprise that the overrated wideout isn't being highly sought after.

That would be awesome if we signed Johnson and Troupe. I like Johnson, feel he has more potential then Wilford and is younger. On another note that you didn't list in that AP article is the the Bills let Sam Aiken become a FA.

I'd still rather have Hackett, but I'd be happy with Johnson. It would at least give us more flexibility with the draft.

A few short videos of Johnson and a few TD catches. he would work well for us.

Hopefully they have talked to him and said that we can pay you that. But I doubt it. He probably laughed and hung up the phone. :sigh:

There is no more right price anymore. Have you seen the contracts that players are getting? Hell, look at what the special teamer, Andre Davis got. $4 million per year.

I like this WR the best out of the other guys. I think he could be a very good #2 for us.

Yeah I seen that. Didn't the Bills pay Davis less than $2 million?

Yeah, I like him the most too. I just wonder if his asking price is too high right now. Because no one is really talking about him.....

yup, less than $2 mil. I think it was a one year deal for $1.3 million.

Honestly Id be willing to pay him the most, he has the best production with the fewest injuries. He's the most proven commodity imo.

would you pay him the contract that Jerry Porter got?

Here the way they break down to me;
Porter-
8 Years
Career Numbers: 284 Receptions, 3939 Yards, 30 TD
Season Avg: 35.5 Rececptions, 492 Yards, 3.75 TD

Wilford-
4 Years
Career Numbers: 141 Catches, 1994 Yards, 14 TD
Season Avg: 35.25 Catches, 498.5 Yards, 3.5 TD

Johnson:
5 Years
Career Numbers: 210 Catches, 2675 Yards, 9 TD
Season Avg: 42 Catches, 535 Yards, 1.8 TD

Hackett:
4 Years
Career Numbers: 105 Catches, 1394 Yards, 9 TD
Season Avg: 26.25 Catches, 348.5 Yards, 2.25 TD
*Never Played a full season

Based on those production numbers, yes I think I could see him getting Porter numbers and being completely ok with it.

Wow. When you see it lined up like that...it's not bad. I would love to see him here today or tomorrow and signed. It would definitely help the offseason feel a little less depressing.

you would be ok with paying a wr who has played behind 2 of the best in the game right now but sucked when he had to fill in for them 30 million?

the guys best game, while playing across from fitz, in place of boldin, is 6 catches for 80 yards. never had a 100 yard game EVER. never had a multiple TD game.. EVER.

and nice job using the year when porter sat around to lower his averages. you know the guy had a dominant year too.. and hackett has at least shown he can have great games when on the field. a great game out of johnson ever would be nice.

johnson has shown that he can throw up a solid 1 catch for 5 yard performance against the seahawks when a new contract is on the line.

he is nothing special.. except a special 1st round bust.

I used every year for every player down or not in order to be fair, so dont start questioning the validity the numbers.

Wilford has only two 100 yard games in his career, Hackett has only one. Johnson is the only one of the three to suffer from horribly inconsistent QB play throughout his entire career. Fact is that Johnson may not be the game breaking WR but we dont need one either, we need a solid guy who can stay healthy, and exploit the middle of the field that Evans will stretch. Johnson fits that mold perfectly. He has good hands and size. Good leaping ability and I think his numbers are even lower than what he's capable of.

he is a first round bust, imho.

i think he is below average for a guy with his physical attributes.

Never had a chance to be a consistent starter and has had arguably as bad if not worse QB play then we have had. Im not ready to call a guy who averages 40+ Catches and 530 yards a year as a #3 WR a bust. He would of finished 3rd on our team in receiving. Are you saying you'd prefer Josh Reed as our #2 option to Johnson?
