Blurb about Buffalos interest in Javon Walker

NFL Network's Adam Schefter, via Pro Football Talk and several other media outlets, is reporting that the Buffalo Bills will host free agent wide receiver Bryant Johnson (Arizona) today at One Bills Drive. Buried on the Cardinals' depth chart behind Pro Bowlers Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, Johnson is considered one of the best receivers available on the market. This is his first visit, though the Chicago Bears have been rumored to show interest as well.

The five-year veteran, along with other free agent wide receivers, are currently waiting on Bears receiver Bernard Berrian to sign a contract, setting the market for this year's free agent receivers. Schefter is reporting that Johnson is looking for a contract that will pay him between five and six million dollars per year with $8 million in guarantees. Berrian's contract is expected to be a bit larger - an expectation that likely will manifest, considering he's expected to visit the philanthropic Oakland Raiders this weekend.
The 6'3", 216-pound Johnson has the size that the Bills are looking to add to their receiving corps, and would bring a new dimension to Buffalo's offense. The Bills are also reportedly interested in former Broncos WR Javon Walker, who was released yesterday.

        From February 23rd, 2008

Amidst speculation that his client isn't ready to pass a physical needed to complete any trade, his agent insists Javon Walker is healthy. Mike Shanahan, among others, has suggested that Walker's right knee problems will eventually result in microfracture surgery. Any deal for Walker would likely involve a conditional draft pick, but he's a better bet to get released than traded.

This is like a little better Peerless Price.

He won't come cheap, in his mind he's still a #1 WR.

He's always talked a good game, pity his body can't keep up with his mouth. I don't think he'll be worth whatever he's asking for.

Re: Blurb about Buffalos interest in Javon Walker

A third of the league is interested in WR Javon Walker. At least 10 teams, including all four NFC East clubs, have been in contact with Walker. The 49ers, Bills, Bucs, Panthers, Raiders, and Vikings are also interested, but no visits have been scheduled yet.

If you can do it for a Peerless type of price, I would take a chance.

Pass on Walker, bring in Johnson if it doesn't break the bank. I'd be happy going WR with the first round pick if there's no one signed during free agency.

Yeah, I'd take Johnson over Walker at this point.
