This better be true because after all the hype if they don't there might be a riot in Bills Nation. If Stroud stays healthy this defense could become pretty dominant.

WAY TO GO BUFFALO!!!!

I'm excited a healthy Posluzny with Kawika and Stroud... I'm not saying we're magically a great defense, but at the very least we are much improved from being horrible.

GREAT JOB,BUFFALO !

I was critical, there is no way around that. I really didn't think they would get this done. They really walked a thin line on this deal. I'm excited Stroud is on his way. I think he adds a huge demension to this team that is has been missing since Williams left. I think it will make McCargo that much better, and it may relieve some pressure on Schobel and Kelsay.

Now if we can make a pitch to get Johnson before he leaves, and add him to the WR corps I think this would have turned out to be an excellent weekend. Plus this will give us a lot more flexability when it comes to the draft, maybe trade down to recoup some of the picks we lost and grab Fred Miller later in the 1st. Who knows, but I think this deal gives the team a lot more options.

Even if true he can still "hold out" for more money.....
From PFT

The price the Bills paid to the Jaguars was a pair of draft picks, third- and fifth-rounders. That makes it official that the going rate for defensive tackles in the NFL is third- and fifth-round picks. Earlier this week, the Panthers sent Kris Jenkins to the Jets for third- and fifth-round picks, and the Lions agreed to trade Shaun Rogers to the Bengals for third- and fifth-round picks, although that trade was voided and Rogers was ultimately sent to the Browns for a third-round pick and Leigh Bodden.

The Bills paved the way for acquiring Stroud by cutting defensive tackle Larry Tripplett. An Associated Press story saying Stroud "cut short his visit with the Bills in Buffalo on Friday after the team's interest cooled upon learning Stroud was seeking a significant raise" was incorrect.

In fact, a league source tells PFT that although Stroud re-worked his contract in a way that gives him more of the money he's due on his current deal upfront, no "significant raise" was part of the deal with the Bills. Stroud still has three years left on his deal and is still scheduled to make $16.5 million in those three years.

Nice. I'm great with the picks, and no un-Godly contract increase.

I was concerned we were really going to get screwed one way or the other in order to finalize the deal, and wasn't willing to up the ante to do it.

That's what I was waiting to hear. The FoxSports article at the head of this thread said that the trade still risks being nullified due to contractual issues.

Lets hope PFT is correct, b/c I don't want to see another Darwin Walker situation. Don't pull the trigger on the trade until you know the guy's going to come happy and play his ass off.

Well done OBD.

This is a great start to FA.

If the sources are to be believed, it looks like we called Drew's bluff. F you, Drew.

This trade took some knads, so I gotta give props that we're finally getting aggressive and making a push to win now. We gotta do it now, while they're still in Buffalo. That means taking risks. The reward is huge: Poz, McCargo, Schobel, Kelsay, Mitchell, Crowell all will be better with Stroud eating up the line. More pressure will make the secondary look better. The message is out: We mean business.

one thing (aside from the annoying negative nancy posters) that bugs me:

the mainstream media is getting beat but pft and others.

they effed this up saying stroud left, they effed up the cincy trade for rogers, and they've not cleared things up well after making mistakes.

i'm happy for our team, but not happy with what are supposed to be trusted news sources

This is great news. What a way to start free agency. I just watched the press conferences and interviews for Stroud, Johnson and Mitchell. They all seem happy and excited to be here. It should be fun to see what our defense can do this year.

This day has been a really pleasant surprise. I'm sure glad I spent the day playing 18 holes of golf and letting things fall into place instead of freaking out about the sky falling in Buffalo like in some of these other threads I noticed.

There's probably still a good chance we'll pick up a WR and TE too. Already a great off-season and we're only a couple days in and still have 8 draft picks to come.

Go Bills!
