View Full Version : Draft party?

Ok free agency is here and with the start we have had so far I am getting excited for the draft!

I am willing to set it up at the same place we had it last year. They have finished the downstairs and they told me we could have the whole room and wouldn't have to leave for the dinner crowd! I think it's a good spot for those in Syracuse and places east and not that far for those in Buffalo!

Last year we had 2 big flat screen HDTV's one had the ESPN feed, the other had the NFL channel feed. It was in the main part of the restaurant, so we had to give up the room at 5:30, this year they are giving us the whole refinished downstairs area that they rent out for weddings and such.

It is a restaurant and bar, You can have everything from wings to streak and everything in between and I sure they have Killians or something close to it!

I can't guarantee about 2009's party, everyone that came here last year loved the place. I just think that everything happens in Buffalo (for obvious reasons), and with all the travel people have to do for it, Rochester is a good spot for the folks here to not have to be doing all the travel and especially for the folks east of Rochester!

I believe Thurm this is what we are trying to decide! I know how hard it is for some folks in Buffalo to think of leaving the confines of the area, I have family there that thinks the same way! However the rest of us do a lot of traveling to Buffalo for all the games and gathering's (AGAIN CAUSE THAT'S WHERE THEY PLAY) but I am trying like last year to give some travel relief to the rest of the Bills fans east of Buffalo. That's all!

Kgun it was an excellent party last year. I am all for having it there this year too.

2009 we can worry about next year, though since most things happen in Blo, for good reason I am not against us having one event in our Rochester area. It wasn't really much of a drive and the place was great to watch the draft.

That's what I though, but for folks to make plans and the fact that is only 2 months away, I would like to give this place a yes or no about the party and then we can look at a head count! If we get enough people I can ask about food and drink specials or some kind of buffet. There are a lot of things to pull together, so it really isn't too soon!

Yes, and?

A true Buffaloian! It's not a put down, but a fact. People from buffalo always have that same reaction. "I'm not sure about the drive to Rochester, why don't we have it here?" My family in and around Buffalo always say the same thing. There response is always I'm not sure about the drive to Rochester, why don't we have it here? It doesn't matter what it's for, I'll send a graduation invite for my son and I get "I'm not sure about the drive to Rochester, why don't you have it here? I kid, but it always seems that folks from Buffalo always think everything is so far away!

My point is that BILLSZONE has ONE draft party that all members come to. We all know that the draft is the last weekend of April EVERY year, shouldn't be to difficult for people to plan for that whether it be in Buffalo one year or Rochester the next.

It seemed to be a big problem last year. They was 2 or 3 bars in question, nobody was for sure about if they could make it in Buffalo, that's why I made a decision and said I was having the party here.

As far as having it in Buffalo or Rochester the next, is another story. I just don't understand why it has to be in Buffalo. Like I said everything is there for obvious reason, so why can the Buffalo folks travel once a year for this. I'm sure it would be a welcomed relief for some folks east of Buffalo, that travel to Buffalo all the time!

This is a good pt K-gun. All the X-mas parties, most zone lunches, tailgating etc, happen in Buffalo. Is it really that much to ask for ONCE A YEAR as you say to do something in Rochester? Man...we travel to games all the time...would the people that are whining about doing it in Rochester even go to the games if they didn't live in Buffalo?

I'd like to know why the draft party planning always turns into a pissing match. I'm going on record: the place KGUN has set up is perfect. Privacy, totally can see the draft, internet connection, food and fun. If we live east of Rochester we have to travel to Buffalo for everything. Have the party in this place for the next fifty years and get rid of this pissing match over and over. I went to the parties you and eb set up in your neck of the woods eb. I drove there...thought it was too far but i don't think you heard me complain at the parties and I showed up. Quit wining and drive your ass out of buffalo once a year for this party...i'd sure like to see you there along with everyone else.

I concur! Boobs would have defenlly made the JP Losman pick better, that was the last draft party I attended. I would be interested in traveling out to Rochester for the weekend if there isn't anything else going on.

the only thing that sucks is the hours. It's 11:30pm-8am 5 days a week and the days off are usually Wed and Thurs night. So, I guess I don't really make my schedule, but I am pretty much guaranteed the nights I want off for the most part.

My buddy, who is a Minnesota fan (booooooo), is opening a bar in Brockport. Unfortunatly, it won't be open for this years draft (by a week or so).

I can get us a sweet deal for next years draft though. It's going to have 8 HD TV's (42" & 32") throughout, all tuned to the draft. I should be able to get really good drink and food specials also.

I know it's a far way out, but just something to think about next year.
