Bills Have Made a Contact With Agent for Crumpler!!!!

WGR - Sports Radio 550 has learned the Bills have made contact with the agent for free agent tight end Alge Crumpler. James Williams and Bills Pro Personnel Director John Guy are expected to talk again on Monday. Crumpler has already spoken with Tampa Bay and Tennessee and had a 2 day visit in Seattle.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported a deal was close with the Seahawks but a published report in Seattle claimed Crumpler wanted to visit 1 other team before making a decision. Crumpler is the biggest name available among tight ends but according to one NFC scout at last month's combine, there is some concern about a degenerative knee condition.

I don't like the sound of a degenerative knee condition. If there's any concern about that, I'd rather the Bills take a chance on Troupe and maybe use a 3rd or 4th round pick on a TE and go into the season with the depth chart at TE looking like Troupe/Royal, Royal/Troupe, and a rookie at third TE.

With the concerns about his knee it's tough to bring Alge in for anything more than a 1 year deal. Essentially he's a stopgap player until we get something better. Same thing that we'd have in Eric Johnson. And Eric Johnson doesn't have a degenerative knee issue.

I'd much rather bring in Eric Johnson, Troupe or Utecht over Alge at this point.

I agree. If we don't sign Gaines wouldn't mind Crumpler and hope that Shouman develops into that position if we don't draft another one.

Id pass, Alge's knee is a big concern down here with the new regime. I dont see him being the same player ever again.

Crumpler has a knack in moving into open waters downfield but I don't think he's a good fit with Buffalo's scheme.

He has knee issues i would rather sign a 2 and use the money to get a 2 WR in here, i wouldnt mind signing Troupe, Gaines cuttin Royal and draftin Bennett.

Still got Schouman and Johnson as tweaners,

then u go out sign Johnston at WR and draft Devon Thomas in the 3rd and Cromartie in the 1st, we would be more than solid
