Agent Would Like Gary Deal Finalized by End of Next Week
Thursday 4/10
The bidding for RB Olandis Gary has begun to heat up. Harold Lewis, Gary's agent, said he was in the process of negotiating a deal with the Buffalo Bills and the Detroit Lions also were interested, but no deal is expected until Gary visits the Chiefs, which will happen Sunday and Monday.
Gary has already visited Buffalo and Detroit to go with his plans to visit the Chiefs. Empire Sports/WNSA has learned that Lewis has also had phone conversations with Dallas and Jacksonville regarding Gary and that the team that signs his client may not be the highest bidder, but the one that gives hime the best chance to get on the field.
Kansas City might represent Gary's best opportunity for a starting job as their need for a back such as Gary is increasing. Not only is Chiefs RB Priest Holmes nursing a hip injury that required surgery last month, but he also would like a new contract, creating the possibility of a holdout. Meanwhile, Holmes' backup last season, Mike Cloud, is an unrestricted free agent who was suspended four games for violating the NFL's substance abuse policy.
