    With the loss of Gaines...

and the addition of Crumpler to the Titans I say that Troupe is a Bill. We need depth at this point and definitely a pass cathing TE in the draft.
Where else would you rather be than right here right now?

I'm hoping we still pick up a TE in the draft there should be a few good ones worth our 2nd rd pick

I agree,. If the money is right we sign him. Funny thing is Bryant Johnson and Ben Troupe have the same agent. Bryant Johnson is visiting today so maybe they are having talks about Troupe as well.

John Carlson could be there in the 3rd.

          Wow, that'd be nice.

"the loss of Gaines" that sounds like an oxymoron to me!

Based on reviews after the combine and pro-day, it is quite possible the Carlson will be available in the 4th at which point its officially a steal

Assuming we can also sign Troupe, then our Tight Ends will be Royal, Troupe and Carlson, as good as any in the league, in terms of depth. A blocker, a pass-catcher and a rookie to learn from both.

              Nice.

I saw Posluszny blow the coverage twice

I don't understand all of the love for Carlson. The guy can't get out of his own way, and does not appear to be the athletic, pass catching TE that we need. There appear to be several guys who would fit our needs better.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Holy ****, that video makes me impatient for football season- we need redemption in South Bend! But why would an Irish fan call his video "Spartan Productions"? **** Michigan State.

Anyway, back to the topic at hand: Troupe is Gaines II/Royal II- he's no real upgrade. There's a good argument that we need him since we lost Gaines, but I just don't see how he's going to be better. Carlson will be a much better option.

I disagree, Troupe is a far superior athlete in almost every meaning of the word. He has the tools....

I agree. I like Davis and Keller for our receiving options at TE.

Carlson looks impressive. Stretches to make catches like a wr. NIce.

well it's no big secret that ND had QB issues last year- did you see how poorly placed a lot of those balls were? He had to stop and adjust- he didn't look nearly so awkward on the ones that hit him in stride.

He's no Antonio Gates or Tony Gonzales, but he might be a Heath Miller or maybe even a Jason Witten.
